Feb. 1 (Saturday) – 6PM. Tommy Abayan, security guard inspector, member of Guardians Brotherhood, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Sudlon 1, Cebu City.
Feb. 2 (Sunday) – 2AM. Zhoden Rey Dayin, 23, native of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, but temporarily residing at So. Lourdes, Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead at Brgy. Cogon Pardo. The police identified a certain “Agang” from Brgy. Pasil, Cebu City, as the suspect. The police also said drugs were involved.
Feb. 2 – 2AM. Conrado “Khimkhim” Nogales, Jr., 28, Mananga 2, Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City. The victim was walking home with some friends when he was shot at Mananga 2. He was brought to the hospital in critical condition. Posts in Facebook by relatives and friends indicate that the victim expired on or before Feb. 4. The police said he was involved in drugs.
Feb. 3 (Monday) – past midnight. Wildredo Ornopia, 50 (or 58), tricycle driver; a former tanod of Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at So. Laray, Brgy. San Roque, Talisay City.
Feb. 3 – 2AM. Paulo Ofianga, 25, habalhabal driver and welder, member of a fraternity. The victim was shot and wounded at Revarage, Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City. No updates on his condition
Feb. 5 – 1AM. Rodlyn Reyes, 38, gasoline station attendant (“pump boy”), resident of Brgy. Casili, Mandaue City. The victim was shot in the head while on duty at the gasoline station in Brgy. Pusok, Lapu Lapu City. He was brought to the hospital. The gunman was the backrider of a motorcycle. The assailants reportedly asked Reyes if he was a member of a certain fraternity to which the victim replied yes. No updates on his condition. Source: Banat News
Feb. 6 – morning. The body of an unidentified male person was found at Brgy. Cantao-an, City of Naga. The bullet bore gun shot wounds and the head was wrapped in packaging tape. Update as of Feb. 7: Victim not yet identified.
Feb. 6 – 10PM. Jessrel Sarto Panuncialman, 45, scavenger, So. Dumpsite, Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City, was found dead at So. San Vicente, Brgy. Inayawan. The victim had been shot.
Feb. 7 – past 11PM. Sherwin Regis, 28, ex-convict, from Brgy. San Roque, Cebu City. The victim, sleeping in the sidewalk of Legaspi Street, Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City, when he was shot dead by unidentified suspect who arrived on a motorcycle. The victim had served four years for robbery and was released from prison in 2018.
Feb. 8 or 9. One radio station reported that Arnold Matedios, 50, carpenter, Brgy. Buaya, Lapu Lapu City, was found shot dead at said barangay. The killing was apparently not reported elsewhere.
Feb. 11 – around 6PM. Police Senior Master Sergeant Maximino “Max” D. Macua, Jr. of the Drug Enforcement Group of Police Regional Office 7 was shot dead during a police operation at Tabada Street, Sitio San Roque Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City. Police men were able to track the two suspects in the fatal shooting of their colleague and past 11PM they raided a house at Brgy. Quiot, also Cebu City. Ronald Salgarino, 25, one of the suspects, was killed, while another unidentified male person was shot dead. Franco Obeso, a second suspect in the shooting of Macua, was arrested at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City, where he was confined with gun shot wounds. P/SMSGT Macua, a native of Bien Unido, Bohol, belonged to University of the Visayas Bachelor of Science in Criminology Batch 2003. He leaves behind wife and young children (personal information from Facebook posts by his friends).
Feb. 13 (Thursday) – 9AM. Peejay Sabuero Mabaga, 27, taho vendor from Sta. Ana, Manila. The victim was shot dead by an unidentified gunman at So. Little Hawaii, Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City. Mabaga moved to Cebu about two years ago.
Feb. 13 – 1:45PM. Jomel Espinosa was shot and wounded by a certain “Onyok” at So. Abangan, Campo Drive, Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City.
Feb. 13 – 5PM. Jolen Sortigosa, 30, was in critical condition after having been shot by a barangay tanod of Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City at So. Kanipaan, Lower Santo Niño, Inawayan. The tanod told the police that Sortigosa was a thief.
Feb. 13 – night time. Erwin, a dispatcher and street dweller in Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City, was stabbed to death by a fellow dispatcher.
Feb. 14 – 11PM. José Duran Ursal III, 19, habalhabal driver, So. Balibali, Brgy. Poblacion, Compostela. The victim was invited to a drinking spree by the three suspects. Once he was drunk, they tied him and stabbed him many times. The body of the victim was thrown at Brgy. Tamiao, also in Compostela. The police arrested the three suspects the following day.
Feb. 15 – 4AM. Jonas Osiones, 25. The victim was stabbed to death by his neighbor (also 25 years old). They had both attended the Valentine’s Day event at So. Ermita Proper, Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City.
Feb. 15 – early morning. Alfeo Navarro III was stabbed and wounded by a 24-year old man at So. Mahayahay 1, Brgy. Calamba, Cebu City.
Feb. 19 – 7:30AM. A man was thrown from a car and shot dead at So. Campo 5, Brgy. Manipis, Talisay City. A tshirt (most likely the victim’s) was wrapped around his head. The police said they found shabu on the body. The man has not been identified.
Feb. 20 – 4AM. Gregoretta “Ging Ging” Manto, 46, former school administrator of Manto Memorial Foundation College, residence at Brgy. Bonifacio, Danao City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem along Rizal Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Danao City.
Feb. 22 – 10:50PM. Jennifer Padernal Vallespin, Soong, Mactan, Lapu Lapu City, was dragged after a motorcycle when the riders grabbed her bag. The victim was the backrider on another motorcycle and she was about to be dropped off near Parkmall, Mandaue City when the snatching incident happened. The young woman died from head injuries (a blood clot in her head) on February 24.
Feb. 23 – before 7AM. Tereso Cabahug (unidentified until Feb. 24) was found on the road in So. Campo 5, Brgy. Manipis, Talisay City. The victim had gunshot wounds in his back and cloth wrapped around his face.
Feb. 23 – 11:20. John Ian Dela Cruz Chan, 37, real estate broker, OPPRA, Brgy. Kalunasan, Cebu City. The victim was found with stab wound in his chest at So. Upper Lanipao, Brgy. Sapangdaku, Cebu City.
Feb. 24 (Cebu City Charter Day) – around 3AM. Elmer “Bobong” Peñola, 37, painter, So. Pag-asa, Brgy. Hipodromo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in front of his home.
Feb. 24 (Cebu City Charter Day) – around 3AM. “Aldrin”, former truck boy, Brgy. Mahawak, Bogo City. The victim was found shot dead with a gunwound on the right side of his face at Block 7, So. Buwaran, Brgy. Sawang Calero, Cebu City.
Feb. 24 (Cebu City Charter Day) – around 9PM. Jorjie De Gracia, 50, reportedly from Northern Cebu, is shot in the back by riding in tandem while he is riding his bicycle in Legaspi Street, Brgy. San Roque, Cebu City. The victim is first said to be a snatcher or thief but later the police say that they had received reports that the victim was a gun-for-hire and always visiting a ‘drug personality’ in the port area of Cebu City. The police said that it was likely a conflict between two drug groups that resulted to the killing of De Gracia.
Feb. 29 (Saturday), 5:20PM. Jagdish Singh, 25, Indian national, engaged in money lending business, residing at Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. San Vicente, Liloan.
