April 2, 8:30PM Christopher Entea, 42, construction worker. Shot dead by riding in tandem in Zamboanguita.

April 9, 6PM. Belarmino Geron Isolana, 56, close-in security of the Guihulngan City Vice Mayor, Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan City. Shot dead by riding in tandem while walking along the national highway in Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan City. The victim was a drug surrenderer (November 17, 2016).

April 10, 7:45PM. Rito Horolan Acabo, 45, owner of bakery business (Guihulngan City and La Libertad). The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. McKinley, Guihulngan City. Acabo’s 18-year old son was wounded. The victim was a drug surrenderer (December 15, 2016).

April 15, afternoon. Leovin Soreño Dela Torre, 40. Daro, Dumaguete City. The victim was shot dead by two unidentified men at his house. He suffered 27 gunshot wounds. He had been involved in a shooting incident some years ago.

April 22, late morning. Zelsun Blue “Coco” K. Behag, a native of Vallehermoso but currently residing in Guihulngan City. The victim was riding her motorcycle at So. Agay-ayan, Brgy. Bulado, Guihulngan City, when she was shot dead by riding in tandem. Her former live-in partner (in San Carlos City) had been arrested for drugs but Behag’s sister said that the victim had cut ties with him and not involved in drug business.

April 23, 9:40AM. Patrick Deogenes Cabristante Romero, 54, Brgy. 1, Bais City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Juan Luna Street, Brgy. 1, Bais City. The police said he was a police asset (informant) and a former drug personality who surrendered in 2017.

April 23, 11PM. Ryan Jay Beltran, 24, Brgy. Taclobo, Dumaguete City. The victim was already asleep when an unidentified person standing outside the victim’s house, shot him dead.

April 24, morning. The dead bodies of Joemar Rebitoy Castor, 33, and Arnel Villegas, 41, both of Purok Orchids, Brgy Calindagan, Dumaguete City, were found, half-naked, only wearing cargo shorts, at the roadside in Brgy. Mayabon, Zamboanguita. The two men had been reported missing by their relatives on April 22. The cause of death has not been established as of April 27.

April 27, 9:30AM. Pedro Ybañez Tecson, 44, farmer, Brgy. San José, Bayawan City. The victim was shot dead by another farmer due to a personal grudge.

May 5, 8:45PM. Cornelio Pepino, 48, radio broadcaster known as Rex Cornelia, Brgy. Blood-Boloc, Sibulan. The victim was on his way home together with his wife after hosting his radio program on Original Energy FM in Dumaguete City when he was waylaid by riding in tandem at Brgy. Daro, Dumaguete City. May 13 update: the car believed to have been used to tail the victim before the killing and used by the killer before he transferred to a motorcycle was recovered. It is owned by the provincial government . Update (May 27): a firearm found at the house if Rodel Barillo (shot dead by riding in tandem on May 12, see below) was used to murder Pepino, the police reported on May 27.

May 8, 7:25AM. Joseph “Jorom” Cacho Romano, 48, Brgy. Biñohon, Bais City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem along Juan Luna Street, Brgy. 2, Bais City. The victim was driving a motorcycle. His back rider was wounded.

May 8, afternoon. Franie Genandoy Avanceña, 56, Brgy. Basak, Guihulngan City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at a waiting shed in Brgy. Basak, Guihulngan City. He was a drug surrenderer in July 2016 but arrested in November 2018 for selling drugs. The victim was out on bail.

May 10, 6:30PM. Feliciano Blanco Mahinay, Jr., 48, former CAFGU, So. Punong, Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan City. The victim was shot dead in front of his house by unidentified suspects.

May 10, 7:15PM. Dante Jimena , 44, jobless, So. Bulacan, Brgy. T. Hill, Guihulngan City. The victim was preparing food inside his house when he shot dead by unidentified suspect.

May 12, 8:20AM. Rodel Pamor Barillo, 37, co-owner of a security agency, Brgy. Kagawasan, Guihulngan City. The victim was taking breakfast with his brother at an eatery in Plaridel Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan City, when suspects riding in tandem arrived and shot him dead. Update: a warrant of arrest in connection with the May 5 murder of Cornelio Pepino was to have been served on the victim.

May 13, 5:30PM. Elpedio Julwar dela Cerna Mahinay , 65, kagawad and former barangay chairman, So. Maambog, Brgy. Planas, Guihulngan City. The victim was tending to his cow at Upper Muog, Planas, when approached by unidentified suspects – suspected members of the New People’s Army – and shot dead.

May 20. Joseph Redocto Bitonga, 41, farmer, So. Budlasan, Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan City, was shot dead by two unidentified suspects In front of his house. The killing was reported at 7:45PM (Budlasan is far from the city proper).

May 20, 5:40PM. Roberto Alejo Silva, Upper Pancil, Brgy. Looc, Sibulan. The victim who was out of prison on probation in connection with a drug case was shot dead by three suspects .

May 26, 8PM. A 50-year old woman was shot and wounded by an unidentified assailant at Purok 2, Brgy. Malabugas, Bayawan City. The victim was shot in the cheek. She was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

May 26, 8:45PM. Edward Uy, 22, Purok Pag-asa, Brgy. Banilad, Dumaguete City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Purok Pag-asa.

May 27, 4PM. Reynold “Junjun” Armentano Paquito, 34, Shin Village, So. Campaclan, Brgy. Poblacion, Sibulan, was sitting in front of his home with his 6-month old son when four suspects arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire. Paquito was killed while the infant was hit in the leg.

May 29, past 6PM. Basiledes Vergara Ledon , 59, public school teacher, Larena Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan City. The victim was shot dead in Larena Street by bonnet-wearing assailants riding in tandem.

Violent crime in Cebu, April and May 2020

Note: the entire Cebu – towns and cities – is under enhanced community quarantine since end of March due to COVID-19.

April 2, dawn. Mark Padin (survived), Bangbang, Cordova. The victim was attacked at his house by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend who shot him in the head. The victim managed to go to the barangay hall and ask for help.

April 2, 7PM. Renato Sotto Evangelista, 26, So. Latasan, Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City, and Dexter Lague Ronamo, 29, Loboc, Bohol, were found shot dead at Brgy. Alambijud, Argao. Evangelista had previously been arrested for drugs and was out on plea bargaining. The two men were staying with relatives at Alambijud.

April 2, 7PM. Zosimo Callora, 30, a barangay tanod of Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City, was shot and wounded by a suspect whom he pursued at So. Lapyahan together with the police.

April 3, 4AM. A 19-year old man was shot dead by a friend at Campo Drive, Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City, because of a disagreement over a card game.

April 4, 7PM. Reynaldo Casipong Gaviola, 45, Brgy. Pulpogan, Consolacion. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem along the highway in Brgy. Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion. The victim had been released on plea bargain in December 2019.

April 6, 1PM. Jaymar Carpentero, 27, factory worker, So. Suba Masulog, Basak, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was mixing milk for his young child in front of his house when he was shot dead by unidentified gunman who had a motorcycle with driver waiting,

April 8, early morning. Aldrin Larasan, 22, security guard, So. Kadasig, Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City, had just returned home from duty when he was shot and wounded by an unidentified gunman .

April 8. Fernando Santa Ana, 29, farmer, Brgy. Cang-actol, Dumanjug, sustained 12 stab wounds and reported to be in critical condition. The attacker was his neighbor who was arrested in the evening.

April 8. Bernard “Bina” Canumay, Brgy. Bato, Toledo City. The victim was killed on the spot after having been shot by what appears to be a close relative. The victim was a father of nine children, the youngest not yet two months old.

April 9 (Maundy Thursday), 6:45AM. Rosinda Pantonial, 43, Maguikay, Mandaue City, was home having a video call with her husband when an unidentified man shot and wounded her.

April 10 (Good Friday) afternoon. Erwin Millosa, 37, Brgy. Pulangbato, Cebu City, was shot and killed near his house. The suspect, a “friend” of the victim, was arrested by the police.

April 11 (Black Saturday), 5AM. Bodies of two men whose throats have been cut with wire are found in a ravine in So. Bogo, Campo 4, Talisay City. One is later identified as Alvin Medillo, 32, truck helper, so. Silangan 2, Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City. The other victim is identified as Anicito Enriquez, truck driver, of Getafe, Bohol. Residents at So. Bogo say a vehicle arrived in the area around 9:30PM and dumped the bodies.

April 11, 6PM. Lemjon Bansalan Sarcena, construction worker, was shot and wounded by a tanod at Brgy. Tubod, Sibonga. The suspect surrendered.

April 12 (Easter Sunday). Mae Hyacinth Abellana Quista, 27, Brgy. Pasil, Cebu City. The victim who was pregnant died after having been shot twice in the head by a certain Jerel Paca Dela Torre while she was sitting outside her house. The police arrested the suspect at his house, also in Pasil. According to the police, the brothers of the victim are in prison due to drug related cases.

April 19, 1:30AM. Eric Calzada, 42, a suspected drug pusher, was shot dead inside his home at Brgy. Dongoan, Danao City. The gunmen broke into the house, murdered Calzada, and left on their motorcycle.

April 23. Ronilo “Negro” Baguio, 47, So. Ponce, Brgy. Carreta, Cebu City. The victim was watching TV when he was shot. His condition was reported to be critical. The police have arrested the suspect.

April 26, 4AM. Rufina Allawan, 72, Purok 3, Brgy. Cansalonoy, Ronda. The victim was killed by her own 38-year old daughter.

April 28. P/Msgt. Douglas Maravillas , Asturias, Provincial Mobile Force Company. Maravillas was shot and wounded by an unidentified person during a police intelligence operation against a marijuana plantation in Brgy. Panamihan, Toledo City. Update: the suspects were arrested on May 2.

April 28. Roger Adolfo, 9, So. Kumon, Brgy. Bacayan, Cebu City. The victim was beaten with a broom by his stepfather. The beating only stopped when the boy fainted. He died at the hospital.

May 1. Jalzie Anodin, 27, construction worker, was stabbed to death in Brgy. Catarman, Liloan by a 29-year old drug addict who accused the victim of being a police asset.

May 3, 7PM. Rogelio Buhawi, So. Lub-ang, Brgy. Casuntingan, Mandaue City. The victim was shot and wounded by his neighbor.

May 4. Christopher Mepieza Albo , 41, was shot dead after having entered the house of Victoriano Alegado, 45, and stabbed the latter’s live-in-partner and a visitor in the head and abdomen, respectively. Alegado got his gun and shot Albo to death.

May 7. Anelita Andoque was killed by her own 25-year old son, a mentally unstable former seaman at their home in Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City. Mother and son had a quarrel about the household quarantine pass when the son slit the throat of his mother, killing her.

May 8, past 3PM. Robert Oliveros, 24, So. All Seasons 1, Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by Francisco and Geric Gabuya of So. Tayud, Brgy. Basak Pardo, according to eye witnesses, at So. All Seasons 3. The victim had reportedly threatened volunteer frontliners earlier. The police said that both victim and suspects were involved in drugs.

May 9. A 26-year old mother who was bathing her child was attacked and stabbed numerous times with a kitchen knife by her neighbor Edelberto Condeno, 52, at Brgy. Linao, Daanbantayan. Condeno then stabbed himself to death. His wife told the police that her husband had suffered a nervous breakdown. The victim survived the attack.

May 11, around 2:15AM. Ardel “Ading” Mariquit, 28, Brgy. Pung-ol Sibugay, Cebu City. The victim was found dead, shot in the head, at So. Badjawan, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City.

May 12. Froilan Indig Golosino , 33, farmer, Brgy. Patong, Badian. The victim was found dead at a mountainous area of the barangay. His head had been crushed with rocks.

May 12. Christian Gatdula, a tricycle driver, was shot and wounded at Brgy. Tinaan, City of Naga. The suspect was arrested with an unidentified accomplice still at large.

May 13. Siegfred Mabia was killed when Noren Castro, 22, tried to shoot a 16-year old boy with whom he had a quarrel. The bullet went through the shoulder of the 16-year old and fatally hit Mabia. The incident happened at Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City.

May 16, night. Mark Cabrera Intrina, 16, was stabbed to death by his own father who was drunk. The latter also stabbed and wounded the neighbors. This happened at So. Lower, Brgy. Bugho, Moalboal.

May 18, 6AM. Ronaldo Villabas, fisherman, was shot dead in Brgy. Mahawak, Medellin. The suspect surrendered himself and the firearm to authorities.

May 18. John Muaña of So. Naba, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City, was shot dead by unidentified suspect(s) at Puntod Alaska, Brgy. Mambaling. The victim had reportedly attacked Jopith Conel, an ECQ volunteer, at Mambaling, who “denied him entry when he (Muaña) allegedly wanted to buy shabu on May 16,” according to the police (Sun Star Cebu, May 19, 2020).

May 19. Felix Amper, 53, farmer, was shot dead at So. Malbog, Brgy. Salug, Dalaguete. The 39-year old suspect, also a farmer and neighbor of the victim, was arrested. Victim and suspect had a personal conflict.

May 22, 6PM. Reymond Regis, a 43-year old ex-convict, a resident of So. Macarosa, Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City, was shot in the head and killed by an unidentified suspect at So. Macarosa, Brgy. Tejero. The victim’s case involved drugs.

May 22, 10PM. Randy Aguirre, 41, Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City. The victim was stabbed to death by a 35-year old suspect whom he (the victim) owed P1,200 and who tried to collect the debt.

May 23, 10:45PM. Philip Warren Abatayo , 31, ex-convict, Purok Lomboy, so. Napo, Brgy. Guindaruhan, Minglanilla. Three bonnet-wearing men barged into the victim’s house, dragged him outside and shot him in the head. The victim expired at the hospital at 5 o’clock in the morning. He was released from jail March 5 this year due to plea bargain. He served time for a drug case.

May 24, 1AM. Felomino “Minoy” Acuña, parish maintenance carpenter, was shot dead by the parish security guard inside the church compound in Carcar City. The two men had a conflict.

May 25, shortly past midnight. Only known as “Agu” in So. Lawis, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City, this 34-year old ECQ volunteer was beaten to death by three suspects who barged into his residence. The victim was not from the place and had no relatives there.

May 26, 2AM. Rey Vincent Suize, 24, Brgy. Bitoon, Dumanjug, was stabbed to death in his home by his own father. Cause? An intoxicated father got mad at his son for waking him up. The suspect has been arrested and is facing parricide charge.

May 26, 4PM. Juanito Flores Ole, 35, So. Caputatan, Brgy. Guinacot, Danao City, served time in New Bilibid Prison for drug case. The victim was shot dead by two unidentified persons at Oliver Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Danao City.

May 27, 8:40AM. Benedicto Sumagang, security agency supervisor and retired policeman, was shot dead by one of the agency’s security guards while a female security guard was shot and wounded. The suspect then took his own life. The incident happened at the office of the security agency at A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City.

May 28, morning. A man known only as Ethyl was shot dead while sleeping by an unidentified killer at Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City. A similar killing happened again in the evening.

May 28, 2:35PM. Brazilio Borinaga, Retired Police Staff Sgt., Camp Marina, Brgy. Kalunasan, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead in front of his house. The unidentified gunman shot the victim in the head. Update (May 29): Cebu City Police Office forms Special Investigation Task Force. Also, they say they received reports that the victim was involved in drugs.

May 28, around 4PM. Jesserel Farra, 22, sales lady/cashier at a bake shop in Brgy. Santa Cruz-Santo Niño, Balamban, was shot dead by a customer. The customer got angry when asked to keep his place in the line and observe physical distancing. He went home, got his caliber .45 and went back to the store and shot dead Ms. Farra. The suspect has been arrested.

May 28, past 10PM. A man known only as Candle Light, about 30 years old, a native of Carcar City and selling candles at the St. Niño Basilica, was shot dead by an unidentified gunman. The victim was sleeping in his small hut at So. Lutaw-Lutaw, Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City, when the killer walked up to him and shot him four times. A motorcycle then picked up the killer. A similar killing happened in the same barangay in the morning (see above).

May 29. Thelma Leonor Patalinghug, 73, Brgy. Candaguit, Sibonga, was found dead in her house on May 30. She had been stabbed. Update: a suspect has been arrested.

May 30, 5PM. Leonides Norte, 47, Asturias, was stabbed dead by his friend. They had been attending a fiesta celebration. The murder weapon was the knife used to slice the lechon. The suspect has been arrested.

May 30, 5PM. James Tabasa , 38, was walking down the road when shot and wounded at Brgy. Pakigne, Minglanilla. The suspect is still at large.

May 31, 1AM. Richard Moreno, 37, was shot dead by an unidentified suspect at Tabura Street, Poblacion, Brgy. Pardo, Cebu City.

May 31, 6:30PM. Basilio Putian, Jr., 52, was stabbed to death by his neighbors at Brgy. Malabago, Moalboal. The suspects surrendered.

Killed in police operations in Cebu, January – March 2020

Jan. 19. Aldren Baya, 24, was reported to be in critical condition after he was shot by the police in Brgy. Camboang, Dumanjug. The police said that Baya was engaged in a drug transaction when they arrived. No update on Baya’s condition.

Jan. 26. Dave Saavedra, 22, was shot dead by the police in a buy bust operation in Brgy. North Poblacion, San Fernando. The police said that Saavedra opened fire.

Jan. 26. Antonio Borlasa, 47, was shot dead by police who responded when Borlasa shot a man with a bow and arrow at Mercedes, Poro, Camotes.

Jan. 29, 3PM. Jigger Lawas, 39, a “high value individual”, So. KSKC, Tungkop, Minglanilla, was shot dead by the police in a drug buy bust operation at Brgy. Tungkop. Lawas shot it out with the police, according to the latter.

Jan. 29. Ricardo “Cardo” Solante Valdueza, Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City, was shot dead by police during drug buy bust at So. Villagonzalo 2, Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City.

Jan. 30, afternoon. Richard Padin, 43, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City, was shot dead by the police in a drug buy bust operation at Brgy. Taloot, Argao.

Feb. 11, past 11PM. Ronald Salgarino, 25, and an unidentified male alias Joe were shot dead by the police at So. Kawayan, Brgy. Quiot, Cebu City, in a follow up operation after the operation where P/SMSGT Maximino Macau was killed.

Feb. 18, past 1PM. JC “Jessie” Dacuma Caballero, 27, So. Bliss, Brgy. Lawaan 3, Talisay City, was shot dead by the police in a drug buy bust operation in Brgy. Lawaan, Talisay City.

Feb. 19, 1AM. Gilbert Campo, 28, allegedly a hitman and drug pusher of “Luwage Group” (also spelled Luwagi or Luage), was shot dead by the police in what the latter described as a shootout in Brgy. Lawaan 3, Talisay City. The police were serving a search warrant.

Feb. 19, 8PM. Alvin Dinopol, an ex-convict, Brgy. Lawaan, Dumanjug, was shot dead by the police during a drug buy bust operation. The police said Dinopol shot first.

March 12. Rosly “Bossing” Fajardo was shot dead by the police during a drug buy bust operation at So. Caniba, Brgy. Cansojong, Talisay City.

March 13, past midnight. Marvin Suico, 33, So. Centro, Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City, was shot dead by the police during an operation. The police said Suico was a drug deaaler.

March 13. Romulo Masbate, Jr. was killed by the police inside his house at So. Caniba, Brgy. Cansojong, Talisay City. The police said Masbate was the drug supplier of Rosly Fajardo (who was killed by the police on March 12).

March 23, morning. Buen Chiong, a “high value individual”, was shot dead during a buy bust operation at Largo Compound, Brgy. San Isidro, Talisay City.

March 31 – evening. Jaykee Nique, 28, construction worker, and said to be a drug user, ran amok and threatened his relatives with a gun at So. Kamaisan, Brgy. Tolotolo, Consolacion. A responding policeman shot and killed him.

Violent Crime in Cebu, March 2020

March 1, 4PM. Nicanor Neiez, wanted for murdering his neighbor in Dumanjug, was found stabbed to death at Brgy. Anajao, Argao.

March 1, 9PM. Raymond Andrade, 29, just out of jail for illegal drugs case. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem while he was celebrating with friends at a videoke bar in San Francisco, Camotes.

March 4, 1AM. Ediliza Andrino, 45, So. Kawit, Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead while visiting a neighbor’s house. The police said that her husband and son are jailed for illegal drugs cases.

March 4, past 10PM. Bernard Espinosa, 42, (of Kasambagan, Cebu City or Banilad, Mandaue City). The victim was shot dead at St. Michael Village, Brgy. Kasambagan, Cebu City.

March 6, 8PM. Paul August Maglasang Noynay, 29, Brgy. Pulpogan, Consolacion. Four persons barged in to the house (owned by the victim’s sister) and shot dead the victim. According to the police, the victim was a suspect in the robbery of a gasoline station in Cansaga, Consolacion, on November 19, 2019.

March 6, late evening. Ramie Apas, a former tanod, was stabbed to death at Brgy. Pit-os, Cebu City, by another man who was driven by jealousy. The suspect surrendered.

March 7 (Saturday), dawn. Loreben Ngujo, 22, So. Lapyahan, Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem. He was sitting at the road side in Lapyahan when shot dead.

March 7, 6:40PM. Markgel Borces Cribello, 34, vendor of newspapers and bottled water. The victim was stabbed twice in the back at Hernan Cortes Street, Brgy. Cabancalan, Manduae City.

March 9 – a public health emergency is declared

March 9, evening. Gilda Mapait Ilustrisimo, 40, Brgy. Taytayan, Bogo City. The victim’s cranium was cracked after having been hit with a hard object.

March 10, 10PM. Edgar Asis Egdamin, 39, habalhabal driver, Brgy. Quiot, Cebu City. The victim was shot to death at Rocky Hills, Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City. His passenger was not hurt.

March 10, 9PM. James Daniel Espinosa, 18, Grade 11 student, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City. The victim was stabbed to death by two suspects at So. Mahayahay, Brgy. Pardo, Cebu City. As of March 11, one suspect has been caught.

March 11, past 12 noon. Maria Liza Berongan Toledo, municipal councilor of Ginatilan. The victim was shot dead in front of the municipal hall where she had just attended a session. The police said that she was likely shot with a sniper rifle. The victim was allegedly involved in drugs. Her (former) common-law-husband is serving time in New Bilibid Prison for a 2001 murder.

March 12, morning. The body of an unidentified male person was found at So. Lapyahan, Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City. The face was covered in packaging tape and hands restricted with handcuffed. The body was partly burnt. Update March 15: the victim was identified as Gary Pateños Teonis, 33, Brgy. Tapon, Dumanjug.

March 13, 2AM. The bullet riddled body of “Jan Jan” Borromeo, Brgy. Candulawan, Talisay City, was found at Salvador, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City. The victim is a ‘high value individual’ and also said to have molested a woman. The police say they found shabu on the dead body.

March 15, 2AM. P/Cpl. Vincent Mary “Inting” Delos Reyes Arboladura, 37, Brgy. Jampang, Argao, assigned with 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company in Moalboal, Cebu. The victim was driving his motorcycle going home when shot dead by riding in tandem in high way, Brgy. Bugas, Badian.

March 15, early morning. Roland Manigo, 40, Mabolo, Cebu City. Two suspects went to his place and shot and wounded him. The victim said they had a quarrel the night before.

March 15, 9PM. Jimmy Limabaga, 44, was shot and killed at Brgy. Tubod, Minglanilla.

March 16, early morning. The lifeless body of Ronnie Mojillo, 50, a charcoal maker, was found by his son near their home at So. Lantawan, Brgy. Sinsin, Cebu City.

March 16 – the country is placed under a state of calamity

March 19, afternoon. Jovanie Antipolo Cabasag, 27, Pansil, Barili. The victim’s body was found at Brgy. Magcagong, Sibonga. He had a gunshot wound in his head and his hands were tied at the back.

March 21, 7AM (Saturday, Cebu under community quarantine due to Covid-19). Bobby Badajos, 45, So. Kilawan, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at So. Kilawan. He was a trisikad driver. He was released from jail July of last year after entering a plea bargaining agreement in connection with a drug case.

March 21, 9AM (Saturday, Cebu under community quarantine due to Covid-19). P/Cpl. Marlon Montermoso Belleres, residing at Deca Homes, Brgy. Dumlog, Talisay City but a native of Macrohon, Southern Leyte. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem in Dumlog as he rode his motorcycle on his way to the Cebu City Police Office. Belleres was a member of the Cebu City Police Office Mobile Patrol Group.

March 25, 6:30PM. Patricia Manloloyo, 45, So. Pajo, Brgy. Pitalo, San Fernando. The victim was shot dead at her place by her brother-in-law.

March 26. Denver Aying, 19, Brgy. Pajac, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was shot dead at So. Kangitnit, Brgy. Maribago, Lapu Lapu City. A suspect was identified.

March 26, 6AM. Dexter Delantar, 45, masseur, So. All Season, Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead in front of his house by a man who reportedly belonged to the same ‘organization’ as the victim.

Violent Crime in Cebu in February 2020

Feb. 1 (Saturday) – 6PM. Tommy Abayan, security guard inspector, member of Guardians Brotherhood, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Sudlon 1, Cebu City.

Feb. 2 (Sunday) – 2AM. Zhoden Rey Dayin, 23, native of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, but temporarily residing at So. Lourdes, Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead at Brgy. Cogon Pardo. The police identified a certain “Agang” from Brgy. Pasil, Cebu City, as the suspect. The police also said drugs were involved.

Feb. 2 – 2AM. Conrado “Khimkhim” Nogales, Jr., 28, Mananga 2, Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City. The victim was walking home with some friends when he was shot at Mananga 2. He was brought to the hospital in critical condition. Posts in Facebook by relatives and friends indicate that the victim expired on or before Feb. 4. The police said he was involved in drugs.

Feb. 3 (Monday) – past midnight. Wildredo Ornopia, 50 (or 58), tricycle driver; a former tanod of Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at So. Laray, Brgy. San Roque, Talisay City.

Feb. 3 – 2AM. Paulo Ofianga, 25, habalhabal driver and welder, member of a fraternity. The victim was shot and wounded at Revarage, Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City. No updates on his condition

Feb. 5 – 1AM. Rodlyn Reyes, 38, gasoline station attendant (“pump boy”), resident of Brgy. Casili, Mandaue City. The victim was shot in the head while on duty at the gasoline station in Brgy. Pusok, Lapu Lapu City. He was brought to the hospital. The gunman was the backrider of a motorcycle. The assailants reportedly asked Reyes if he was a member of a certain fraternity to which the victim replied yes. No updates on his condition. Source: Banat News

Feb. 6 – morning. The body of an unidentified male person was found at Brgy. Cantao-an, City of Naga. The bullet bore gun shot wounds and the head was wrapped in packaging tape. Update as of Feb. 7: Victim not yet identified.

Feb. 6 – 10PM. Jessrel Sarto Panuncialman, 45, scavenger, So. Dumpsite, Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City, was found dead at So. San Vicente, Brgy. Inayawan. The victim had been shot.

Feb. 7 – past 11PM. Sherwin Regis, 28, ex-convict, from Brgy. San Roque, Cebu City. The victim, sleeping in the sidewalk of Legaspi Street, Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City, when he was shot dead by unidentified suspect who arrived on a motorcycle. The victim had served four years for robbery and was released from prison in 2018.

Feb. 8 or 9. One radio station reported that Arnold Matedios, 50, carpenter, Brgy. Buaya, Lapu Lapu City, was found shot dead at said barangay. The killing was apparently not reported elsewhere.

Feb. 11 – around 6PM. Police Senior Master Sergeant Maximino “Max” D. Macua, Jr. of the Drug Enforcement Group of Police Regional Office 7 was shot dead during a police operation at Tabada Street, Sitio San Roque Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City. Police men were able to track the two suspects in the fatal shooting of their colleague and past 11PM they raided a house at Brgy. Quiot, also Cebu City. Ronald Salgarino, 25, one of the suspects, was killed, while another unidentified male person was shot dead. Franco Obeso, a second suspect in the shooting of Macua, was arrested at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City, where he was confined with gun shot wounds. P/SMSGT Macua, a native of Bien Unido, Bohol, belonged to University of the Visayas Bachelor of Science in Criminology Batch 2003. Feb. 13 (Thursday) – 9AM. Peejay Sabuero Mabaga, 27, taho vendor from Sta. Ana, Manila. The victim was shot dead by an unidentified gunman at So. Little Hawaii, Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City. Mabaga moved to Cebu about two years ago.

Feb. 13 – 1:45PM. Jomel Espinosa was shot and wounded by a certain “Onyok” at So. Abangan, Campo Drive, Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City.

Feb. 13 – 5PM. Jolen Sortigosa, 30, was in critical condition after having been shot by a barangay tanod of Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City at So. Kanipaan, Lower Santo Niño, Inawayan. The tanod told the police that Sortigosa was a thief.

Feb. 13 – night time. Erwin, a dispatcher and street dweller in Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City, was stabbed to death by a fellow dispatcher.

Feb. 14 – 11PM. José Duran Ursal III, 19, habalhabal driver, So. Balibali, Brgy. Poblacion, Compostela. The victim was invited to a drinking spree by the three suspects. Once he was drunk, they tied him and stabbed him many times. The body of the victim was thrown at Brgy. Tamiao, also in Compostela. The police arrested the three suspects the following day.

Feb. 15 – 4AM. Jonas Osiones, 25. The victim was stabbed to death by his neighbor (also 25 years old). They had both attended the Valentine’s Day event at So. Ermita Proper, Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City.

Feb. 15 – early morning. Alfeo Navarro III was stabbed and wounded by a 24-year old man at So. Mahayahay 1, Brgy. Calamba, Cebu City.

Feb. 19 – 7:30AM. A man was thrown from a car and shot dead at So. Campo 5, Brgy. Manipis, Talisay City. A tshirt (most likely the victim’s) was wrapped around his head. The police said they found shabu on the body. The man has not been identified.

Feb. 20 – 4AM. Gregoretta “Ging Ging” Manto, 46, former school administrator of Manto Memorial Foundation College, residence at Brgy. Bonifacio, Danao City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem along Rizal Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Danao City.

Feb. 22 – 10:50PM. Jennifer Padernal Vallespin, Soong, Mactan, Lapu Lapu City, was dragged after a motorcycle when the riders grabbed her bag. The victim was the backrider on another motorcycle and she was about to be dropped off near Parkmall, Mandaue City when the snatching incident happened. The young woman died from head injuries (a blood clot in her head) on February 24.

Feb. 23 – before 7AM. Tereso Cabahug (unidentified until Feb. 24) was found on the road in So. Campo 5, Brgy. Manipis, Talisay City. The victim had gunshot wounds in his back and cloth wrapped around his face.

Feb. 23 – 11:20. John Ian Dela Cruz Chan, 37, real estate broker, OPPRA, Brgy. Kalunasan, Cebu City. The victim was found with stab wound in his chest at So. Upper Lanipao, Brgy. Sapangdaku, Cebu City.

Feb. 24 (Cebu City Charter Day) – around 3AM. Elmer “Bobong” Peñola, 37, painter, So. Pag-asa, Brgy. Hipodromo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in front of his home.

Feb. 24 (Cebu City Charter Day) – around 3AM. “Aldrin”, former truck boy, Brgy. Mahawak, Bogo City. The victim was found shot dead with a gunwound on the right side of his face at Block 7, So. Buwaran, Brgy. Sawang Calero, Cebu City.

Feb. 24 (Cebu City Charter Day) – around 9PM. Jorjie De Gracia, 50, reportedly from Northern Cebu, is shot in the back by riding in tandem while he is riding his bicycle in Legaspi Street, Brgy. San Roque, Cebu City. The victim is first said to be a snatcher or thief but later the police say that they had received reports that the victim was a gun-for-hire and always visiting a ‘drug personality’ in the port area of Cebu City. The police said that it was likely a conflict between two drug groups that resulted to the killing of De Gracia.

Feb. 29 (Saturday), 5:20PM. Jagdish Singh, 25, Indian national, engaged in money lending business, residing at Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. San Vicente, Liloan.

Cebu, January 2020 – violent crime

Jan. 1 – past noon. Junrey Abapo, So. Paradise 2, Brgy. Kinasang-an Pardo, Cebu City. The victim was chased and shot dead by an unidentified assailant. Two other persons, including a minor, were injured. The police said that the victim had been an asset of the Mambaling Police Station

Jan. 1 – around 1PM. Pedro “Peter” Reyes, 45, So. Naba, Mambaling, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead inside his house by unidentified assailant(s). The police said that drug paraphernalia were recovered from the house.

Jan. 1 – 7:30PM. Rogelio “Dodong” Garcia, 53, Purok 6, Brgy. Nangka, Consolacion, and his brother Marcel Garcia, 50, So. Cambiohan, Brgy. Casili, Consolacion. The two brothers were shot by an unidentified person near a supermarket. Marcel had a heated argument with assailant. Rogelio tried to intervene but was killed on the spot. Marcel expired at 4AM.

Jan. 7 – 6AM. A farmer was shot with an improvised rifle by another farmer – his neighbor – in Brgy. Amatugan, Tuburan.

Jan. 7 – past 1PM. Arnold Albano, 34, habal-habal driver, So. Kalubihan, Brgy. Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City. The victim was putting up posters of the habal-habal drivers’ association to which he belonged, when a man approached him and shot him in the head and the body.

Jan. 7 – around 4PM. Arniel Salandron, 31, Brgy. Kinasang-an Pardo, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by two men. The two were allegedly identified by witnesses .

Jan. 7 – evening. Richard Elemino, a 36-year old truck driver, was stabbed to death by his truck boy after having celebrated his (Elemino’s) birthday at So. Fatima, Brgy. Tinaan, Naga City.

Jan. 10. Edgardo Marco Corbo, 34, mentally disturbed, Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City. The victim’s body was found in Brgy. Puente, Carmen, around 7 in the morning. His face, neck and ears had been skinned. Eventually the body was identified by the victim’s brother who confirmed that Edgardo was mentally challenged and left his home last November. Edgardo like Puente because the people there were kind and gave him food. The police said that the suspects are two brothers who might have thought the victim was a police asset and responsible for the killing of their older brother in November.

Jan. 11 – 10:30PM. Joel Cabrera, 35, and his brother Jelvis Cabrera, 30, Santa Rita, Brgy. Dumlog, Talisay City, were shot dead by their neighbor, Police Staff Sgt. Sydney Alisoso. The two brothers threw stones at Alisoso’s house. The police officer called the police station for help but when the police arrived, they found the two Cabrera brothers already lying lifeless outside the house. Alisoso surrendered and is detained at the police station (as of January 12).

Jan. 14 – past 11PM. Unidentified male person. Was shot dead along road in Brgy. Pit-os, Cebu City. The victim’s eyes were taped with packaging tape. (As of report in CDN Digital posted 11:49PM Jan. 16.)

Jan. 15, 11PM. Porferio Tolomia , 72, and his wife Anatalia, 74, Brgy. Ba-e, Sibonga. The victims were shot dead by intruders. Hipolito, their 41-year old son, was shot dead in the same house on Dec. 16 2019.

JAN. 16 – past 3PM. Federico Limoran Jr., residing at Brgy. Talamban, Cebu City, had been released from jail in October 2018, a father of four. The victim was walking along the road in Purok 3 Upper, Brgy. Camputhaw, Cebu City, when he was attacked by four gunmen and shot dead

Jan. 17. A 33-year old man was shot in the leg by an unidentified gunman at Brgy. Calamba, Cebu City. The victim reported refused to be attended to by the responding medical team.

Jan. 19 (Sinulog Sunday) – 10 PM. “Loloy”, So. Riles, Brgy. Hipodromo, Cebu City. The victim was sitting outside his house when an unidentified gunman walked up to him and shot him in the head. The assailant’s companion was waiting on a motorcycle. The killing happened during the Sinulog fireworks display.

Jan. 20 – late evening. Richelieu Tudtud, 40, So. San Vicente, Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City. The victim was chased by the killer all the way to his house where the killer shot dead Tudtud. The police said they recovered “many drug paraphernalia” from the victim’s house. The victim was living alone.

Jan. 21 – 6:50AM. Angelo Añasco, 41, construction worker, Brgy. Tabionan, San Fernando. The victim was stabbed to death at Northwood Residences construction site in Brgy. Canduman, Mandaue City.

Jan. 23 – early evening. Roger Moneva Capuyan, free lance bodyguard, a former soldier, Danao City. The victim was on his way to Lapu Lapu City on a motorcycle (backrider) when attached by riding in tandem in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Jan. 23 – early evening. Ryan Repollo Señas, So. San Roque, Brgy. Lamac, Consolacion. The victim was attacked by five unidentified male persons in his own home and shot dead. He had recently been arrested for robbery/holdup and was out on bail.

Jan. 25 – 3AM. Oliver Getamondoc, 42, habalhabal driver and exconvict, Brgy. Dumalan, Dalaguete, was shot dead on his way home from a disco/fiesta at Brgy. Ablayan, Dalaguete. The suspect, a farmer from Brgy. Babayongan, Dalaguete, is still at large.

Jan. 25 – night. Dailyn Melecio, 24, Brgy. Liburon, Carcar City, was stabbed to death by her husband, reportedly in a fit of jealousy. The husband then burned down the house.

Jan. 26 – past 6PM. Benjoe Belandres, 39, small town lottery (STL) coordinator, Brgy. Cawayan, Dalaguete. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem while riding a motorcycle with his live-in partner at Brgy. Coro, Dalaguete.

Jan. 29 – noon time. Dennis Lagana Escarilla, 32, So. Silangan, Brgy. Tinago, Cebu City. The victim was on his way home to take lunch when he was stabbed to death at Arellano Street, Cebu City. The suspect Rolly Dela Cruz Alfanoso, 40, the victim’s neighbor, was arrested.

Jan. 29 – 6PM. Manuel Nadera, 45, Brgy. Canbanua, Argao. The victim was shot dead by Edwin Villarin at Brgy. Baklaw Mabasa, Argao. The suspect surrendered to authorities.

Jan. 30 – 2:15PM. A 15-year old high school student was stabbed by a 19-year old suspect at Cabancalan National High School, Mandaue City. The motive was jealousy.

Jan. 30. The body of Mario Buendia Martel, 34-year old bodyguard, So. Kabayabsan, Brgy. Cambanay, Danao City. The victim had last been seen by his family on January 25 and had been reported missing, was found at a vacant lot at So. Banaba, Brgy. Guinsay, Danao City. The body had gunshot wounds at the back of the head and in the back.

Dec. 3 – 1AM. Ricardo Arias, 30, So. Tuburan, Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City, was shot dead by two unidentified men inside an internet cafe at So. Tuburan.

Dec. 3 – around 6AM. Emilio Macabudbud (or Emilio Pastor or Emilio Cabudbud Pastor), 47, So. Dakilang Pito (Great Seven), Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by unidentified gunman at So. Tuburan, Brgy. Punta Princesa. The police said that Macabudbud killed Arias and that the killing was the result of a “quarrel over illegal drugs.” Update: news reports from Dec. 6 quote Cebu City Police Office Intelligence Branch as having arrested Arhiel Jay Andales, 42, in a buy bust operation. Andales is the alleged hitman of a drug group and allegedly was involved in the killing of Arias.

Dec. 6 – past midnight. Joel Apor, 40, military intel asset and army reservist, president of a habal habal drivers’ association. The victim was about to take a meal at Brgy. Bulacao, Cebu City, when he was attacked by riding in tandem .

Dec. 7 Leo Macabudbud, (Macabudbus in media report), 19, from Carmen, Bohol, but staying at Katipunan, Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City. The victim was shot at Mabini, Brgy. San Roque, Cebu City. The police say that the victim was killed because he wore the tshirt of his fraternity, Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho).

Dec. 9. Erico Pantinople Nerie, 28, Cabadiangan, Brgy. Jomgao, Argao. The victim was shot by an unidentified person at the fiesta disco. He was brought to the hospital. Condition not known.

Dec. 10 – 3AM. John Ruelan Gonzales, 23, from Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City, but reportedly staying at a condominium or hotel at Panagdait, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem as he was parking his car.

Dec. 13 – 7:50PM. Allan Ceballos Zapanta, 39, Brgy. Polpogan, Consolacion. The victim was shot dead by unidentified persons at So. Riverside, Brgy. Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion. He had just been released from jail in connection with a case of alarm and scandal and threatening with bladed weapon. He had most likely posted bail.

Dec. 14 – early morning. Bianca Paige Bayang, 25, So. Mahayahay, Brgy. San Vicente, Liloan, was shot in the head by her live-in partner. The latter surrendered to the police later the same day.

Dec. 16 – past 2AM. Rudy Bejoc, 23, So. Orchids, Brgy. Fuente, Carmen. The victim was shot dead by unknown assailant in front of his home at Brgy. Fuente.

Dec. 16 – 8PM. Hipolito Tolomia, 41, farmer, Brgy. Bae, Sibonga. The victim came home drunk when an unidentified person or persons entered the house and shot him dead.

Dec. 19 – shortly after midnight. Policemen under the Mandaue City Police Office responded to an armed robbery – a woman was attacked by three men who stole her bag. The policemen pursued the robbers and killed Louie Tanudra Singwatt, native of Iligan, and Marlon Carlos, 39, both residing in Brgy. Pahina Central, Cebu City, in a shootout. 24-year old RJ Sumatra from Tangub City but residing in Brgy. Kalubihan, Cebu City, was arrested.

Dec. 19 – around 7PM. Rufini Barba, 46, of Brgy. Pulpogan, Consolacion, was shot dead by riding in tandem in said barangay.

Dec. 26 – Patrolman Percival Eborlas, 47, survived an attempt on his life when would-be-killers arrived onboard a grey van at Brgy. Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City, near the victim’s home. Eborlas and his 9-year old niece were both wounded.

Dec. 30 – 1:45AM. Neil Pala Boligao, 48, freelance veterinarian and hog dealer, a native of Cagayan de Oro City, with residence in Cebu City/Talisay City. The victim was attacked by riding in tandem while driving his vehicle near the slaughter house in Brgy. Balisong, Talisay City. He had brought hogs there for slaughter.

Summary November 2019: 14 shot dead by unidentified killers (EJK-style murder); 5 murders or homicide (motive established and suspect(s) identified); 4 survived attempts on their lives; and the police killed 5 and wounded 1. 8 of the 14 EJK (and 1 murder) were committed in Cebu City, while among the remaining 6 EJK, the 3 had victims who were residing in Cebu City but murdered/their bodies found outside of the city.

Nov. 1 (All Saints’ Day) – 7PM. Elisa Argoncillo was shot in the head by her brother-in-law at Brgy. Jolomaynon, Dalaguete. The local media reported that the victim was in critical condition. The police, in a follow up operation, shot dead the suspect – Luciano “Ciano” Dibdib – at Brgy. Sacsac, Dalaguete.

Nov. 6 – 6:15AM. Virgilio Diocampo Pena, 56, supervisor in a manpower company, native of Carmen but with residence in Brgy. Lahug, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem when he was driving his motorcycle along the highway in Compostela.

Nov. 9 – shortly before midnight. Alexander Libatan, 46, Minglanilla, was stabbed to death by his brother-in-law. The victim was reportedly having a fight with his wife, the sister of the suspect. The police arrested the latter.

Nov. 10 – 8PM. Victoriano “Tikab” Gabaca, 22, and John Mark Cañeda, 16, both of Brgy. Bulacao, Cebu City. The two friends were shot dead by four persons riding two motorcycles at So. Cabancalan, Brgy. Bulacao. The police said that Gabaca reportedly had been involved in stealing.

Nov. 13 – evening. Junel Tapia Lima, So. Kamalig Bato, Brgy. Looc, Danao City, was found shot dead at adjacent Brgy. Tabok, Danao City (The Freeman/Banat News).

Nov. 14 – 8:30PM. Benjie Tagalog Labastida, 36, was shot at the back of his head at So. Pili, Brgy. Prenza, Balamban.

Nov. 17 (Sunday). Jolito Aballe, So. Lantawan, Brgy. Sinsin, Cebu City was found shot dead at Campo Siete, Minglanilla around 8PM. The victim’s hands were tied with a wire. He was a suspect in a stabbing incident in Brgy. Sinsin on November 16.

Nov. 20 – evening. Analyn Empedad (or Empedrad), sari sari store owner, Brgy. Lunas, Asturias, was shot dead by a man who posed as a customer. The victim’s live-in partner was recently arrested for drugs. Note: victim was also reported as “Annalyn Buhawe”.

Nov. 21 – afternoon. Anthony “Tonton” Castaño, 30s, So. Laray, Brgy. Carreta, Cebu City, was shot dead in a narrow alley not far from his home. The police identified a suspect.

Nov. 21 – 5:35PM. Police Lt. Col. Joie Pacito Paye Yape, Jr. , 49, investigator at Internal Affairs Service Camp Crame, and his wife were walking in Molave Street, Brgy. Kamputhaw, Cebu City, when attacked by riding in tandem. Yape was shot dead while his wife was unharmed. The killers had reportedly been waiting outside the hotel where the victim was staying while in Cebu City. Yape was attending a PNP seminar and also a hearing at the Provincial Internal Affairs Service.

Police Lt. Col. Joie Pacito Paye Yape Jr. was the ninth policeman in active service to be killed in Cebu in 2019, and the seventh to be killed by masked assassins.

Nov. 22 – past 6PM. Juditho Amante, 39, grilled fish vendor, a native of Talibon, Bohol, but residing at Urgello Street, Brgy. Sambag 1, Cebu City. The victim was shot by riding in tandem. He was brought to the hospital in critical condition but didn’t make it. The neighbors could not mention any reason why someone would want to kill Amante.

Nov. 23 – José Merlyn Gabud 57, So. Kamadre Cacawan, Brgy. Adlaon, Cebu City, was in safe condition despite having sustained seven gunshot wounds after Jasson Berdin, 39, shot him. Gabud driving a multicab, had tried to hit if not run over Berdin but the later evaded and instead opened fire. This happened at So. Kamadre Cacawan. Based on Facebook posts, Berdin is a security guard.

Nov. 25 – 1AM. Jaypee Abrigana and his mother survived after having been shot several times by a suspect who was able to get away. The crime happened in Brgy. Pagsabungan, Mandaue City, where the victims are renting.

Nov. 25 – late evening. The body of Juniel Amamangpang Cabiluna, Brgy. Jaclupan, Talisay City, was found buried at So. Sambagan, Brgy. Lagtang, Talisay City. Update: On Nov. 27, the police arrested Jener Abellana Bacus, Arwen Calinawan and Rommel Bacacao in two separate operations. The police claim these three men – who yielded shabu and unlicensed firearms – are responsible for robbing, killing and burying Cabiluna. Update: The police arrested “main suspect” Christopher Quirante Amian (in Dumanjug) and Javier Jason Cabier.

Nov. 26 – 6PM. Erwin Vestil, 42, Villa Leyson Subdivision, Brgy. Bacayan, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead in an alley at So. Riles, Brgy. Hipodromo, Cebu City, near his parents’ house. The police claim the victim had a quarrel with somebody before he was shot dead.

Nov. 27 – early morning. Niño Salmeron Aguilar, 29, B. Aranas Ext., Brgy. Duljo Fatima, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem in said area. The police say the victim was killed because of a woman and that he quarreled with a certain “Gil” before he was shot dead. The victim had been released from jail a few days before he was killed. He had posted bail in connection with a drug case (Superbalita, Nov. 27, 2019)

Nov. 29 – 12:30AM. Vicenta “Venji” Abaño, 40, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant inside her home in Brgy. Suba, Cebu City. The police said she was an ‘informant’ or ‘asset’ who had provided information about illegal drugs and shooting incidents in the area. Alejandro Abaño, the victim’s father, was shot dead in Brgy. Jagoliao, Getafe, Bohol, on June 28 and Niñolito Abaño, the Vicenta’s brother, was shot dead in Brgy. Pahina San Nicolas, Cebu City, on July 19.

Nov. 29. Mila Gabayan, 35, manicurist and masseuse, So. Cadarong, Brgy. Pulangbato, Cebu City, was found shot dead at the roadside at So. Camboag, Brgy. Pulangbato, Cebu City, around 6AM. The victim had a bulletwound in her head.

Nov. 30 – 8AM. Antonio Lopez Claro, 45, Brgy. Langub, Asturias, was shot dead by his cousin at Purok 4, Langub.

Persons killed or wounded in Police operations June – December 2018

June 1 – 11PM. Edwin Andrade, 33, P. Rodriguez, Lapu Lapu City, and an unidentified person were shot dead by Mandaue City policemen at a check point at Zuellig Street, Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City. One of the men allegedly pointed a gun at the policemen.

June 10. Police Senior Inspector Raymond G. Hortezuela, assigned with the Negros Oriental Provincial Police, was shot dead by police during a buy bust operation in Brgy. Tipolo, Mandaue City. He reportedly resisted arrest.

June 10. Rubidel Gabiana, 30, an alleged drug pusher and gun-for-hire, and Jeffrey Himaya were killed by the police in an alleged shootout at Campo 6, Brgy. Manipis, Talisay City where the two men reportedly were involved in the operation of a drug den. Seven persons were arrested.

July 10. Bladen Skyler Abatayo, 4, So. Bato, Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City. Skyler was hit by a stray bullet fired from the gun of a policeman from the adjacent apartment. The policeman stumbled on the stairs while on surveillance operation. The police claimed the bullet came from a suspect’s gun but evidence contradicted this version. NBI on August 27 filed charges against Carbon Police Station chief, Senior Insp. John Kareen Escober, for falsification by public officer, dereliction of duty, obstruction of justice and grave misconduct. PO1 Wilbert Perez was charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and PO1 Rey Van Dadula for dereliction of duty. Update: Early April 2019, the police arrested Ronald “Bulldog” Mejias, 30, of So. Bato, Ermita, for drugs. The police say Mejias is a suspect in the accidental shooting of Skyler and would have his firearm subjected to ballistic examination. Mejias is allegedly a “freelance gun-for-hire.”

July 10. Jeffrey Mendoza Cañedo, Brgy Labangon, Cebu City, was shot dead by the police inside the Archbishop’s Residence compound in Jakosalem Street, Cebu City. Cañedo was armed and said he wanted to talk to the archbishop.

July 14 (Saturday). Ronnie Mayol, 44, was shot by the police during a buy bust operation at So. Saac, Brgy. Buaya, Lapu Lapu City.

July 17 – past midnight. Jerandy Medequillo Montes (or Montes Medequillo), an alleged hitman of a detained drug lord, was shot and killed by policemen of Danao City Police Station inside the police station in an alleged shootout.

July 18 (One Time Big Time police operations on July 18, 2018): Rodel Econas, 25, habalhabal driver, was shot by the police inside his house at So. Iba Lawas, Brgy. Lagtang, Talisay City, for holding a gun.

July 18 (OTBT) – past 5AM. Ranchie Rosal Castañeda died after having been shot by the police at So. Sudlon, Brgy. Guizo, Mandaue City.

July 18 (OTBT) Raymark Quingco was shot dead by policemen of the Carmen Police Station after they accosted him and questioned him if he was a certain Joseph Taoy for whom they were looking. They beat him up and when he tried to run away they shot him dead. The police later reported that they had killed “Joseph Taoy” in a shootout but this was contradicted by witnesses and the physical evidence. The NBI investigated and filed charges against the involved policemen in October 2018. The police denied the allegations and said it was a legitimate operation.

July 20 – evening. Gerwin Vasquez-Wilhoit, 37, Mandaue City, was shot by the police during what the police said was a buy bust operation in Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City. The police said that Wilhoit pointed a gun at them. However, the autopsy showed that the 37-year old had been shot in the back.

July 24. Rodel Sanchez Halos, 33, So. Mananga 2, Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City, was killed when he allegedly shot it out with policemen who went to his house to serve arrest warrants. Halos, the 3rd most wanted in Talisay City, faced charges of murder and frustrated murder.

August 4. Serilino “Serle” Montes was shot by the police during what was reported as a shootout in Lower Campo, Brgy. Poblacion, Pinamungajan. Montes later died at the hospital. He was reportedly new in the drug business.

August 14 – 6AM. Dennis “Denden” Pia Artiaga, 30, opened fire on the police who went to his house at So. Bataha, Brgy. Mandilikit, Argao, to serve a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder. The police returned fire and killed Artiaga.

August 15 – 2:16PM. Socrates “Isok” Dacay, 35, a suspected drug pusher, was shot dead by the police in a buy bust operation at So. Kimba, Brgy. Cansojong, Talisay City.

August 23 (OTBT) – morning. Eugene Fermin, subject of a search warrant, was shot by the police in Brgy. Umapad, Mandaue City. (Note: 111 persons were arrested all over the Province of Cebu in connection with One Time Big Time police operation).

August 23 (OTBT) – morning. Parolito Obrero, 60, was shot dead by the police during a buy bust operation at So. Magay, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City.

August 23 (OTBT) – morning. Phil John Ediza, a suspected pusher, was shot dead by the police in Brgy. Poblacion East, Moalboal. In November 2014, Ediza had been arrested with three others when the police raided a drug den in Moalboal. But he was able to escape when motorcycle riding gunmen arrived and shot and killed the two policemen who were providing ‘perimeter security’ while other policemen and barangay officials were doing the inventory of the drugs and drug paraphernalia (CDN November 16 2014).

August 26. Nonito Pantonial was shot dead by a policeman who responded when people called for help at Brgy. Candulawan, Talisay City. Pantonial figured in a fist fight which the policeman tried to put an end to. Later Pantonial fired a gun at the policeman who returned fire.

September 12 – 3AM. Billy Baguio, So. Galaxy, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City, a “high level drug pusher” who “sidelined as gun-for-hire”, was shot dead by the police during a buy bust operation.

September 18 – 3PM. Marloe “Alot” Limbaga, ex-convict and drug surrenderer, Brgy. Simala, Sibonga, was killed by the police in a buy bust operation at Brgy. Talaytay, Argao.

September 26 – 2:50PM. Abundio dela Torre, Jr. (17); Allan dela Torre; Mohaimen Conda Mauyag; “Jovan”; Shainoden Dimasimpan; “Mantak”; and Manuel Pepito (46) were shot dead in what the police called an encounter at So. Saint Michael, Brgy. Pajac, Lapu Lapu City. The police said that the seven fatalities belonged to a “newly identified gun-for-hire group also involved in drugs.” The police said that Abundio dela Torre and Shainoden Dimasimpan were responsible for the shooting to death of student Kristian Saldavia (September 15) and security guard Laurencio Revijane Jr (September 25). The Lapu Lapu City police conducted a dialogue with the Muslim community of Masjid Darrusalam at So. Saint Michael two weeks after the “encounter.” The police conduct regular activities with and for the community.

October 1 (Monday). Eduardo “Lantoy” Piloto, Jr. and Errol Labajo Fernandez (22) were killed in a shootout at So. Sawsawan, Brgy. San Roque, Talisay City. The police conducted a buy bust operation.

October 3 – 8:15PM. Crisolito “Sonny” Unito, Top 6 Most Wanted Person by Police Regional Office No. 9 (Northern Mindanao), a high value target in Ozamiz City, allegedly a member of the “Dragon Group” crime syndicate from Ozamiz City. Unito was killed by policemen who went to his residence at Brgy. Bankal, Lapu Lapu City to serve three warrants of arrest for robbery and murder, among others.

October 4 (OTBT). Brothers Duane and Jatty Bongga; Cresencio Rafaran, Jr.; Sherwin Dabasol and Wiven Vinculado were shot dead by the police at So. Tunga, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City. The police said they resisted arrest but relatives said that there was no shootout and that the police entered the homes and handcuffed the men.

November 23 – 3AM PO1 Jaylord Joseph Taping was hurt during a surveillance operation at So. Mananga 2, Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City.

November 23 – past 2:30PM. Arnel “Alvin” Hernani, Ramonito “Duterte” Maneja and “Joseph” alias Dugyot were shot dead by the police in what the police said was a shootout at Brgy. Lawaan 3, Talisay City.

November 24. Susanao “Sano” Labrador, barangay tanod, Vincent Ceballos and Warlito Tecson were shot dead by the police during a buy bust operation at Maghaway, Talisay City. The police said that the three men were members of Ariel “Ladoy” Olivar’s drug group. Relatives of the three fatalities for their part said that there was no buy bust operation and that Labrador, Ceballos and Tecson were simply picked up by the police then shot.

November 28 – 12:15AM. Eugene Cabando was shot by the police during a buy bust operation in Brgy. San Roque, Talisay City.

December 18 (Tuesday) – 3:55AM. Rodel Nacario and Kevin Baguio were shot dead by the police during a buy bust operation in Talisay City. The police said the two men had ties to Steve Go, the drug lord who was killed inside the Mandaue City Jail on June 19, 2018.

December 18 – around 8AM. Rodrigo Alvarez and Victor Noel Alvarez, brothers, transferred from Brgy. Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, to Brgy. Jaclupan, Talisay City. The two brothers were killed by the police during a buy bust operation in Jaclupan.

December 27 – 3:30PM. Richard “DK” Rivera Sangkap was shot dead by the police during a buy bust operation at So. Felomina, Brgy. Sangat, San Fernando.

December 27. Dexter Rabago, 43, a suspected drug pusher and thief, was shot dead by the police during a buy bust operation at Purok 4, Brgy. Jaclupan, Talisay City. However, according to the son of Rabago, his father didn’t resist arrest but was simply shot dead by the police.

June 2 – dawn. Ariel Fernandez, Purok Lubi, Brgy. Canjulao, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem while his companion Nestor Tero, Jr. was wounded.

June 4. Leadillo Labonso Ugsang , 39, tricycle driver, a native of Tandag, Surigao del Sur but staying at Lapu Lapu city. The victim was shot dead at So. Mahayahay, Brgy. Bankal, Lapu Lapu City by unidentified gunman. The victim was on his way home.

June 4. Francisco “Jojo” Largado, 24, unemployed, Villagonzalo 1, Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead while eating noodles.

June 7, 2018 – 2PM. Maodin Manali Lucman, 45, president of Lapu Lapu City Muslim Ambulant Vendors Association, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was walking along G.Y. Dela Serna Street in Brgy. Poblacion, Lapu Lapu City, when shot dead by riding in tandem.

June 9. Michael “Bading” Margate, 25, trisikad driver, Tambisan, Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at La Paloma Subdivision, Brgy. Tisa.

June 10, 2018 – early morning. Nancy Balansag Baya, 34, and Arnel Deniega Baya, 40, brother-in-law of Nancy, Brgy. Liong, Dumanjug. The victims were shot dead by an unidentified intruder. The police said the murders were committed due to a “personal grudge”.

June 12 – past midnight. Pablito “Molmol” Castro, 53. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem in Anahaw, Upper Nazareth, Brgy. Buhisan, Cebu City. He was playing cards with friends.

June 13. PO3 Jonathan Yaun Tilos, 36, police officer, Algeria. The victim was shot dead with automatic rifle at So. Malbog, Brgy. Poblacion, Algeria. He allegedly had ties to Franz Sabalones.

June 14. Marcelo Roslinda , 59, former barangay councilor, and Marlon Jayuma , 36, Roslinda‘s bodyguard, Brgy. Esperanza, San Francisco, Camotes. The victims were shot dead by riding in tandem in San Francisco.

June 14. Enny Jay Tampus Andrade, 27. The victim was shot by riding in tandem in Brgy. Campo, San Francisco, Camotes.

June 15, Friday night. Joseph Buazon, 42. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem on Osmeña Boulevard, Brgy. Sambag 1, Cebu City.

June 17. Eric Cabuenas Canoy , 36, trisikad driver, Brgy. Dumlog, Talisay City. The victim was shot dead by unidentified gunman at So. Magay, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City.

June 19. PO2 Melchizedek Batomalaque, 37, was shot dead in front of his house in Brgy. Daanlungsod, Toledo City.

June 19. Steve Go, 40, a suspected drug lord, was shot dead by Cresenciano Heyrana, 41, a fellow detainee, inside the Mandaue City Jail.

June 22. Outgoing barangay councilor Hildebrando Ygonia was shot in the head by unidentified gunman a few meters from his house in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City. He succumbed to his wounds on June 25. The victim was out on bail in connection with an illegal possession of fire arms case.

June 24. Ranilo Q. Valiente, 47, retired SPO2 and the president of a habalhabal drivers association, Brgy. Cubacub, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Purok 6 Mahogany, Brgy. Cubacub, Mandaue City. Jason Mayola, 26, of Brgy. Pagsabungan, Mandaue City, was wounded.

June 25. Reynaldo Francis Torralba Alvaro, 39, Suba, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by five assailants in front of hisd house in Duterte Street, Brgy. Suba. The police linked the victim to drug personality Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro.

June 26. Gary Ong Go, 57, businessman. The victim who was reportedly arrested with 45 kg of shabu in June 2015 in a drug bust in Quezon City, was shot dead by three unidentified persons at So. Agad-Agad, Brgy. Poblacion, Cordova.

June 30. Jesus Lebosana, an auto mechanic, was shot dead by Carlito Delantes at Brgy. Langtad, Argo.

July 2. Atty. Salvador Solima and his wife Verose were attacked inside their home at Singson Village, Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City. Atty. Solima was killed and his wife wounded. The police arrested suspects.

July 5, 2018. Russ Cañares Aquino, 48, ex-convict, Brgy. Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead inside the Lorega San Miguel Public Market.

July 7. 46-year old George Gadon was stabbed to death by a neighbor at So. Tagaytay, Brgy. Busay, Moalboal.

July 10, 2018. Ruel Mabano , 41, Kalunasan Barangay Councilor and a former policeman, Cebu City. The victim had just come out from the barangay hall when a man went over to him and shot him point blank. The victim had retired from the police force in 2016 when he got reassigned to Mindanao.

July 10 – 11:30PM. Anjen Lagmay, 21, and Junifer Teniano, 24, both security guards, shot and killed each other at the convenience store of a gasoline station in Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City.

July 11, 11:30PM. Glenn Mark Manal , 39, former barangay councilor, Brgy. Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City. The victim had just left the wake of Russ Aquino when he was shot dead on Imus Road, So. Lumar, Brgy. Lorega San Miguel.

July 12, 2018 – early morning. PO 1 Avita “Jiji” Agudo Sarzuelo , 46, police woman, Tabuelan. The victim was driving her car when she was attacked and shot dead by riding in tandem. The victim was reportedly on floating status.

July 15 – 3PM. Ricky Ocon , 26, tricycle driver. The victim was shot dead at So. Pool, Brgy. Bankal, Lapu Lapu City.

July 17. Edmund Boter, traffic enforcer, Brgy. Marigondon, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was on duty when he was shot dead by two unidentified men at G.Y. Dela Serna Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Lapu Lapu City.

July 18 – evening. Ralph Quijano, water vendor. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Perrelos, Carcar City.

July 19. Armando “Amid” Lozano, a 52-year old former policeman, survived an attempt on his life during the oath taking of PTA officers at Bliss Elementary School, Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City. He was able to run and escape from the gunmen.

July 20, 2018 – 8AM. Art Stephen Bas, 23, barangay councilor, Brgy. Lagtang, Talisay City. The victim was driving along South Coastal Road on his way to school when he was attacked and shot dead by three men riding two motorcycles. The victim was a graduating student of Mechanical Engineering, Cebu Institute of Technology. He was the son of former Lagtang Brgy Captain Mark Ferdinand “Dindin” Bas and grandson of incumbent Talisay City Councilor Arturo Bas.

July 20 – around 9am. Marwin Jaime Abelgas, 28, Yayam Gaviola, 40, and Jovencio Rabadon, 36, inmates of the Talisay City Jail. They were on their way to court when the BJMP vehicle was rammed. The prison guards were disarmed and the three prisoners were shot dead. The killers used an estimated seven motorcycles. Abelgas was arrested by PDEA in March 2017 at Deca Homes, Talisay City. He allegedly had links to slain drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz.

July 21, 2018 – 1:20AM. Syle Cantillep, 17, Purok Rose, Brgy. Opao, Mandaue City. The victim was playing street games with his friends at G. Ouano Street, Brgy. Opao, when he was shot dead by riding in tandem.

July 21. Jeffcloyd Cui, 36, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by two unidentified men at Gabriel Elorde Street, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City.

July 22. Allan Alferez Aroba, 36, Brgy. DAS, Toledo City. The victim was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Brgy. Liki, Balamban.

July 22. Angni Osman, 52 , James Babanggol , computer shop technician, and Nasim Osman, 22 (son if Angni). The three victims were shot dead inside a computer shop in Brgy. Poblacion, Lapu Lapu City, by four suspects riding motorcycles. Angni Osman and Babanggol were linked to the killing of Edmund Boter (July 17).

July 23. The body of an unidentified male was found at Brgy. Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City.

July 24, 2018 The lifeless bodies of Jamie Mata, 16, and her boyfriend Stephen del Corro, 27, both residents of Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City, though del Corro was lodging in Mandaue City, were found in Brgy. San Roque, Liloan. The victims had been shot in their heads. They were last seen alive in Mandaue City the evening before.

July 24. The body of Harry Uy Lloren , 43, Basak, Cebu City, was found at Consolacion. He was seen in CCTV camera footage being escorted by a suspect and taken away on motorcycle the night before. The suspect returned alone and shortly thereafter Jamie and Stephen were brought outside and taken away on motorcycles.

July 25. Ernesto Briones Pogado, 30, habalhabal driver, Borbon. The victim was shot dead by a motorcycle riding killer who had a lookout helping. The attack happened at Brgy. Don Gregorio Antigua, Borbon.

July 27 (Friday), 2018 – 5:10PM. Baby “Earl” Rallos, 48, Deputy Director for Operations, PDEA 7, Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City. The victim was driving his car in the usual Friday afternoon traffic at Capitol, Cebu City, going home from work when a man walked up to his car and shot him.

July 30. PO3 Eugene Alcain Calumba, 33, was shot dead by the driver-bodyguard of Tejero Barangay Kagawad, former Barangay Chairman Jessielou “Jingjing” Cadungog . It was widely believed that Calumba’s mission was to kill Cadungog but the latter’s driver shot first. The shooting happened at Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City. Calumba was the backrider of a motorcycle driven by Michael Banua, said to be a crime volunteer and police asset. The police filed murder charges against Cadungog and his driver but the DOJ dismissed the charges against Cadungog and downgraded the case against the driver to homicide. Cadungog left the country. Six suspects tried to burn down his house on November 14. His brother Arnulfo was shot January 24 2019 and passed away three months later, not having recovered from the bullet wounds.

July 31, 2018. Pascual Villarba, Jr. , Brgy. Guizo but temporarily residing at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) grounds, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead at the CICC grounds . He was recently released from jail and reportedly involved in drugs.

August 2 – early morning. Dennis Lastimoso, So. Kalubihan, and Dennis “Tambok” Flores, So. Palsy Side, Brgy. Sambag II, Cebu City. The victims were shot dead and their bodies dumped along the Transcentral Highway in So. Mayana, Brgy. Gaas, Balamban. Lastimoso was reportedly just out of prison after serving five years.

August 2 – 8PM. Welfredo Saraña, 47, security guard in Cebu City but from Mabinay, Negros Oriental. The victim was shot dead by an unidentified gunman inside the security guard bunkhouse in So. San Roque, Brgy. Lahug, Cebu City.

August 2 – late evening. Ropil Norvaso and Ricky Andujar , both ex-convicts, Brgy. Binaliw, Cebu City. The victims were shot dead by riding in tandem at the CICC grounds, Mandaue City.

August 5. Jissie Boy Lamosao, 26, habalhabal driver, Alcantara. The victim was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head at Brgy. Candabong, Alcantara.

August 6, 2018. Live-in partners Jessie Montebon, 46, and Maribel Tikling, 41, So. Pagatpatan, Brgy. Paknaan, Mandaue City, were shot dead by riding in tandem at Zone Ahos, Brgy. Paknaan. Montebon was allegedly involved in drugs.

August 7 – 7:40PM. Michael Manago Maringuran, 34, survived attack by riding in tandem at So. Tribunal, Brgy. Centro, Mandaue City. The police said that the victim was involved in drugs.

August 7 – 10PM. Dennis Emmanuel Cruz, 33, a native of Tacloban, Leyte, and Evangeline Pisana Tinador, 28, reportedly from Zamboanga del Norte, both residing at Brgy. Cotcot, Liloan, were driving their car when a lone gunman shot at them. Tinador was wounded while Cruz wasn’t hit. The police said that the shooting was a warning – the couple were allegedly new players in the drug business.

August 7 – 11:40PM. Jaypee “Jeffrox” Carayo, 30, internet café attendant, Purok Orchids, Brgy. Opao, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead near the internet café at Purok Orchids. The police said that the victim was involved in selling drugs.

August 8, 2018 – around 1PM. Von Rian Tecson , 41, PDEA agent, Carcar City. The victim had just left his house at Brgy. Perrelos, Carcar City, when his car was attacked by two teams of riding in tandem. It is believed that he was able to shoot fatally one of the attackers, later to be identified as SPO1 Roderick Balili, assigned with the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG 7). However, the official version of the police was that SPO1 Balili was accidentally shot twice by his own firearm when it was handed to him by the driver of the vehicle he was riding in Pinamungajan. Balili succumbed to his wounds in the evening of August 10.

August 8 – 1PM. Butch “Tootsie” Rosales, 42, an activist and volunteer of RISE UP, So. Jansen, Brgy. Punta Engaño, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was shot while riding a jeepney in Lapu Lapu City. He was in the front seat.

August 11. “Loloy”, a piggery worker, was stabbed to death by his fellow employee at Brgy. Basak, Lapu Lapu City.

August 12 SUNDAY, 2018 – 1AM. 14-year old Arjay Aranguez Niere, a Grade 8 student from So. Yayam. Brgy. Talamban, Cebu City, was shot dead at Brgy. Budlaan, Cebu City, after a fight at a disco. The suspect – Jeffrey Mercader Borinaga, 28 -was arrested.

August 12. Junrel Sabal, 34, Brgy. Lahug, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem in Brgy. Vito, Minglanilla. The police said that the victim was a trusted man of a drug personality operating in Minglanilla.

August 12 – 8:15PM. Castancio Cancancio, trisikad driver, Mananga 1, Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem.

August 12. Vivian Abner , 42, was walking along the road when she was shot by an unidentified assailant. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds but survived.

August 14, 2018. Rolando Ruiz Geraldez, 55, a taxi dispatcher, was hacked to death by 24-year old Robert Benarao at Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City. The two had an argument.

August 15 – 11:30PM. Alvin Abella , Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Punta Princesa. The police said they recovered shabu from the crime scene.

August 16 – around 3AM. Wilfredo “Willy” Amores, 56, retired police officer, Brgy. Marigondon, Lapu Lapu City. The victim who was driving his motorcycle, was shot dead by riding in tandem at M.L. Quezon Avenue, Brgy. Pusok, Lapu Lapu City and his bag containing a large cash amount was stolen. The victim’s female companion was not harmed.

August 17 – shortly after midnight. Guiseppe Lucas Caballero , traffic enforcer and habalhabal driver, Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City. The victim was shot by his passenger in Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City.

August 17, 2018 – past 7PM. Analyn Menguito , 37, owner of a dry goods store, and Gilbert Bayot, owner of a barbershop, were shot dead by a lone gunman at the Cordova Public Market where the store and barbershop are located.

August 18. Arsenio Ycong , 52, civil engineer, Brgy. Pusok, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was shot dead by three men after he bought food at an eatery in So. Bliss, Brgy. Pajac, Lapu Lapu City.

August 23. Wendell Lou Paciencia, 38, security guard. The victim was on duty at the guardhouse in Singson Village, Brgy. Tipolo, Mandaue City, waiting for the reliever to arrive when a motorcycle without plate number pulled up and the backrider shot and killed him.

August 24 – evening. Japanese businesswoman Junko Hamada , 71, was shot dead while driving her car along N. Bacalso Highway, Cebu City. Update: a former boyfriend of the mistress of the victim’s Japanese husband admitted that he killed Hamada, having been paid to do so. On June 13, 2019, the husband was arrested in Japan.

August 24, 2018. Jimboy Racal, Purok Talong, Brgy. Cogon, Cordova, was shot dead inside his house by two unidentified gunmen. The victim was a “trustee” of alleged local drug lord William Sumalinog, according to the police.

August 25. Rodilo Fornoles, 40, Villagonzalo 2, Brgy. Tejero, Cebu City, was standing at the roadside near his home when a motorcycle arrived and the backrider shot him. The victim ran but was chased and finished off.

August 25 SATURDAY- 6PM. An unidentified man was shot dead at So. Saint Michael, Brgy. Pajac, Lapu Lapu City, after he had played basketball.

August 25 – 8PM. George Guarin Ariate, Jr., 32, ex-convict and a suspected thief. The victim was shot dead by a lone gunman at Brgy. Sangi, Toledo City. This was the second time that the victim was shot.

August 25, 2018 – 10PM. Gary Calderon, 52, jobless, a drug surrenderer, had been arrested for drugs in 2006 and acquitted in 2017, So. Riverside, Brgy. Looc, Mandaue City. The victim was watching TV when bonnet wearing men barged in and shot him dead.

August 26 – 3AM. Bryan Cui, 21, was dancing at the fiesta disco at So. Santa Filomena, Brgy. Sangat, San Fernando, when the assailant walked up to him, punched him then pulled a gun and shot him dead.

August 26 – 6:20PM. 20-year old Korean Young Ho Lee was shot dead at a motel in Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City. The suspect was subsequently arrested and in March 2019 a case for murder was filed in the court.

August 26 – 7PM. Andrew Abadilla Jamandre, the manager of a popular food delivery service, escaped death when he was shot and wounded by riding in tandem at Brgy. Sambag I, Cebu City.

August 27 – 1:45AM. An unidentified man was shot dead at Veterans Drive, Brgy. Apas, Cebu City.

August 27. 15-year old Genebeve Entonado’s lifeless body was found floating in a fishpond in Brgy. Owak, Asturias. The girl had last been seen alive at 2AM August 24 at a disco at So. Anapog, Brgy. Owak.

August 28. Amelita Manayon , 42, was robbed and stabbed to death by three men at her house in Brgy. Sibago, Pinamungajan.

August 29, 2018. Trisikad driver Manuel Alidon was shot dead by a motorcycle driving gunman at So. Soong, Brgy. Mactan, Lapu Lapu City. The police said they found shabu on the victim.

August 30 – 7:30AM. Mario Angana Mendoza, 44, was riding his bicycle when shot dead by riding in tandem at So. Kapulay, Brgy. Tayod, Liloan.

August 30 – 10AM. Paquito “Kipot” Oyao , 60, Brgy. Agus, Lapu Lapu City. The victim had attended a court hearing in a land dispute case when he was waylaid by riding in tandem. He was the third Oyao brother murdered . According to the police, the victim was a drug surrenderer but still involved in drugs. He had previously been acquitted of conspiracy to murder in the 2008 murder of a policemen.

September 2. Demetrio Llanera, 67, an ambulant vendor, was shot dead by riding in tandem on the corner Sangi Road and G. Dela Serna, Brgy. Gun-ob, Lapu Lapu City. The victim came from a bar where he reportedly quarreled with some people.

September 4, 2018. Froilan Mabaga, 36, habalhabal driver. The victim was shot dead by four assailants at the foot of the Cansaga Bridge in Brgy. Paknaan, Mandaue City. He was in the Cebu City drug list. After the September 16 killing of Renan Mabida and Mark Lester Castillo, the Mandaue City police suggested that the two men might have had a hand in the murder of Mabaga.

September 5, 2018 – 1AM. Mariano “Nonie” Blanco III, 59, mayor, Ronda. Four men barged into the town hall and shot dead the victim inside his office. The victim was reportedly in President Rodrigo Duterte’s “narco list.”

September 6, 2018. Bonifacio Candia, 28, construction worker. The victim was killed by Domingo Gabica, a fellow construction worker, at Villa Bulsita, Brgy. Bulacao, Cebu City.

September 7, 2018 – 11:30PM. Brothers Wendell Alilin, 39, former barangay councilor, and Bryan Alilin, 35, habalhabal driver, residents of Brgy. Tabok, Mandaue City. The victims were on their way home on a motorcycle when they were shot dead by riding in tandem in Brgy. Tabok, Mandaue City. The brothers debts had reached millions according to the police. After the September 16 killing of Renan Mabida and Mark Lester Castillo the police suggested they had been behind the double murder of the Alilin brothers.

September 8. Jonel Langomes Cantel , 27, habalhabal driver, a native of Argao but residing at Upper Panabang, Brgy. Apas, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at So. Gruto, Brgy. Apas.

September 10, 2018. Eliseo “JR” Canillo Devilleres , 34, tourist bus driver, Brgy. Casili, Consolacion . A motorcycle riding suspect shot dead the victim in front of his partner and their young son at So. Upper Panabang, Brgy. Apas, Cebu City. They were on their way to a birthday celebration.

September 10 – past 9PM. Ricardo Urot Armenton , jeepney driver, Brgy. Tabla, Liloan. The victim was shot dead outside his house.

September 11, 2018. Paulo Pinote was shot dead by riding in tandem at So. Ibabao, Brgy. Agus, Lapu Lapu City.

September 12, 2018. Johnson Sy Chiaoco , 56, owner of a paint shop, Consolacion. The victim was shot dead in front of his store in Hernan Cortes Street, Brgy. Cabancalan, Mandaue City. The police arrested Rolando Ramos, a 37-year old suspect.

September 13 – 9AM. The prisoner transportation vehicle of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) was ambushed in Brgy. Kalunasan, Cebu City, resulting to the killing of Jerryfer Perigrino, an inmate; Bernie Bayutas , Prison Guard 1; and Joel Teves, the driver.

September 14 – 4:30AM. Louie Flores, 28, dance instructor and dance choreographer, So. Bato, Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by a motorcycle riding killer at So. Kahoyan, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City. The police arrested Harold Mabatid for drugs and said that he was the one behind the killing Flores. However, no motive was provided by the police.

September 14, 2018 – 11PM. Christopher Badajos , 20, So. Galaxy, Brgy. Tangke, Talisay City. The victim was shot dead as he rode his trisikad at So. San Rafael, Brgy. Tangke.

September 15, 2018 – past 7PM. Kristian Angelo O. Saldavia , 19, student at Indiana Aerospace University, Lapu Lapu City, a native of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. The victim was shot dead while he was eating noodles at a store near his dormitory at So. Kagudoy, Brgy. Basak, Lapu Lapu City. The police later said that suspects killed in a police operation on September 26 were responsible for the murder of Saldavia and for the September 25 shooting to death of Laurencio Revijane, Jr.

September 15 – 7:20PM. Socrates Alferez Lorensana, 39. The victim was walking along the road in So. Bernisan, Brgy. Esperanza, Aloguinsan, when he was shot several times by two unidentified suspects.

September 15 – past 10PM. Jonbert Dakay, 20. The victim was riding a passenger multicab in Brgy. Tuyan, Naga City, when riding in tandem pulled up and shot him dead.

September 16, 2018 – 1AM. Jay John Patucan, 36, was stabbed to death by Oliver Lumapas, 27, at Brgy. Centro, Mandaue City.

September 16, 2018 – past 9PM. Renan Mabida, 35, and Mark Lester Castillo, 40, of Ozamiz City but renting at Brgy. Cubacub, Mandaue City. The two men were shot dead by two unidentified killers. The Mandaue City Police Office linked the two victims – after their death – to the murders of Jamie Mate, Stephen del Corro, Froilan Mabaga, the Alilin brothers, and Jessie Montebon.

September 18. Eustaquio Gilig, 39, Sta. Rosa, Olango, Lapu Lapu City, was shot dead at So. Angasil, Brgy. Mactan, Lapu Lapu City. The victim had attended a court hearing in a physical injuries case.

September 25, 2018 – 1:30AM. Laurencio Geluano Revijane, Jr. , 26, security guard. The victim was shot at So. San Roque, Brgy. Basak, Lapu Lapu City. The police on September 26 conducted a massive police operation against an alleged gun-for-hire group in Barangay Pajac which the police said was behind the killings of Revijane and Kristian Saldavia (September 15). The police killed seven members of the alleged crime group.

September 25 – 1:20PM. Ernie Amistad, Jr., 39, tricycle driver, Brgy. Pajac, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Pajac. He was resting on his tricycle waiting for passengers when he was shot dead.

September 25. Alem Samad, tricycle driver. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem in So. Kagudoy, Brgy. Basak, Lapu Lapu City.

Sepember 26 – 6AM. Edwin Monson, 46, trisikad driver, Brgy. Cambaro, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at the back of University of the Visayas campus in Cambaro. The police linked him to drugs.

October 2, 2018 – evening. Juanita Lobrino Enclonar, 52, barangay councilor and vegetable vendor, Brgy. Guadalupe, Alegria. The victim was buying fish at the market in So. Sangi, Brgy. Madridejos, Alegria, when she was shot four times by riding in tandem.

October 3 – before 3AM. Loraine B. Temple, 37, call center agent in Cebu City, resident of Lapu Lapu City, a native of Zamboanga City. The victim was was robbed and shot dead at Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City.

October 3, 2018 – 5:45PM. Evangeline Briones, 31, was walking at Brgy. Ward 4, Minglanilla, when she was shot dead by an unidentified gunman. The victim was the live-in partner of Juvi Franza, a drug personality, who was killed in a buy bust operation in Brgy. Tulay, Minglanilla, in February 2018. PO2 Evie Espina who acted as poseur buyer during the buy bust operation was killed too.

October 4, 2018. Leyster Abella, 26; Carl Cabahug, 20, Brgy. Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City; Leyster Abella, 26, Brgy. Calamba, Cebu City; Diover Van Sarijorjo, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City; Christopher Tangag, 23, call center agent and habalhabal driver, Mambaling, Cebu City; and Rolando Tayor, 29, Labangon, Cebu City. The five victims had been shot dead and their bodies dumped at So. Kan-irag, Brgy. Malubog, Cebu City. The PNP said that Rolando Tayor and Diover Van Sarijorjo had been arrested and charged for drugs in 2017 and had been out on bail. Sharmaine Poran was able to run from the van that brought the victims to the execution site and claimed that she and the victims had been picked up from various points in the city, then brought to a bodega where their hands were tied and they were blindfolded. Then they were brought to Malubog.

23-year old Christopher “Boyet” Tangag had been a government scholar. He was recently married and had a 9-year old child.

October 6. Ruffy Bacalso, businessman, Consolacion. The victim was shot dead at Lamac, Consolacion by men riding a motorcycle. The police later arrested a suspect while another suspect was at large.

October 8 (Monday), 2018 – early morning. Mark Ferdinand “Dindin” Bas, 42, former barangay chairman of Brgy. Lagtang, Talisay City. The victim was shot dead by two unidentified men who entered the house in So. Dumlog, Brgy. Simala, Sibonga, which the victim was renting. The victim’s son Brgy. Councilor Art Stephen Bas was shot dead on July 20 and it was believed then that the former barangay chairman was the real target. Bas was arrested in 2017 for illegal possession of firearms. The police also linked him to drugs.

October 8 – dawn. Allan Perez, 38, a former barangay tanod, Brgy. Basak, Lapu Lapu City. The victim was shot dead at his house. The police suggested “love triangle” as motive.

October 8, 2018 – 5PM. Paulino Vega, 59, barangay tanod, Brgy. Cubacub, Mandaue City. The victim had finished directing the traffic in front of the local school and was walking along the road when was shot dead by riding in tandem. The Mandaue City Police Office chief said there was a connection to the Parojinogs of Ozamiz City. Vega, according to the police, was often seen with Renan Mabida, Mark Lester Castillo, and Crisolito Unito (killed by police on October 3), linked to Paronijogs and Dragon Group, respectively. The police also said that the victim’s nephew was involved in drugs. Incidentally, Judge Edmundo Pintac who was handling cases against the Parojinogs in Ozamiz City, was killed in an ambush in Ozamiz City in the afternoon of October 8.

October 8 – past 8PM. Jason Faustor, 31, appliances salesman, Brgy. Lamac, Liloan. The victim was shot dead at Cebu Business Park, Brgy. Barrio Luz, Cebu City. Update: In July 2019, Hamilton Monera Juarez, Brgy. Media Onse, Toledo City, was charged with the murder of Faustor based on circumstantial evidence.

October 9, 2018. Jonaly Claros, 38, trisikad driver, Brgy. Baliwagan, Balamban. The victim was shot dead by one of his two passengers at So. Cagay, Brgy. Aliwanay, Balamban.

October 9, 2018. Roger “Torjack” Labajo, 47, barangay tanod and habalhabal driver, Brgy. Sinsin, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Brgy. Lagtang, Talisay City.

October 10 – 6:10AM. Danilo Luzano Cantilla, 53, habalhabal driver, Purok Ampalaya, Brgy. Cambaro, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead at Purok Ampalaya. He was a drug surrenderer but still involved in drugs and considered a high value target, according to the police.

October 10 – afternoon. Incumbent First Councilor and former barangay chairman Edgar Bihag, 58, Brgy. Cubacub, Mandaue City, was shot when the truck that he was riding was attacked by motorcycle riding killers in Burgos Street, Brgy. Alang-Alang, Mandaue City. He died at the hospital. His cousin Rolando “Lando” Vega was wounded. Bihag was on his way to the police to report the killing of Cubacub Tanod Paulino Vega.

October 12, 2018. PO3 Micahel “Micmic” Santino Cortes, 45; Dennis Patiluna, 43; José Lauganas Soroño, 45; and Cresenciana Ranghos, 50. Cortes, a policeman from Talisay City included in President Rodrigo Duterte’s list of “narco cops,” reassigned to Sulu in 2016 and in Cebu in connection with a court hearing, was in a car driven by Patiluna when attacked by armed persons on motorcycles. Ranghos was a scavenger and happened to be in the area when the attack happened.

October 15, 2018 – evening. Emelito Rubias, 41, Naga City. The victim was shot dead while riding his motorcycle in Brgy. Poblacion Ward 2, Minglanilla.

October 16. Jifty Mark Sacedon, 26. The victim was shot dead in Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City. According to news reports, the father of the victim told the police that his son was a drug addict.

October 18, 2018. Lyndo Bering, 23, trisikad driver, of Brgy. Babag, Lapu Lapu City but temporarily staying at Brgy. Poblacion, Cordova. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem. The police believed the victim was killed by members of a rival gang.

October 22 (Monday) – 1PM. James Edward Sillar Jugo, 21, So. Continental, Brgy. Duljo Fatima, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead at his home.

October 22, 2018 – 5:55PM. Danilo Flores Olivar. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem in Brgy. Alang-Alang, Mandaue City. He had previously been arrested for drugs, the police said.

October 22 – 6:20AM. Jonard Sabido, 53, security guard, So. Puntod, Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City. The victim was bringing his child to school on his motorcycle when he was shot dead by riding in tandem.

October 23. Joseph Santillan Almodiel, 43, Brgy. Tayud, Liloan. The victim was sitting on his motorbike at Belgium Street, Brgy. Suba, Cebu City, when a man walked up to him and shot him.

October 24, 2018. 20-year old Ronel Santillana of Brgy. Poblacion, Carcar City, was stabbed to death at Brgy. Poblacion by Agustin Lauron, 39, because of an argument.

October 25 – 5:30AM. The bullet riddled bodies of Joniel Abatayo, 29, and Abelardo Salomag, 44, both of Brgy. Lagtang, Talisay City, were found at Brgy. Campo 8, Toledo City.

October 26. Victor Toring Balaba, habalhabal driver, Purok Villamangga, Brgy. Opao, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem near Parkmall at Brgy. Tipolo, Mandaue City. The police said that the victim had been in prison for drug pushing. He was also reportedly a drug surrenderer (2016).

October 27, 2018. Gualbert “Kokoy” Gabutan, Jr., 25, habalhabal driver, Buena Hills, Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by a certain Glenn Lahaylahay Lanurias, 30, a resident of the area. The two had a conflict or quarrel. Update: case has been filed in court but the accused has not been arrested.

October 27. Meliton Catubis Dayday, 63, Toledo City. The victim was cultivating his farm at So. Arpili, Brgy. General Climaco, Toledo City, when he was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

October 28. Lope Medellada, 48, chief tanod of Brgy. Cuanos, Minglanilla. The victim was shot dead at the basketball court while he was on duty. He was reportedly very active in the anti-drug campaign.

Oct. 30, 2018. Lovely Regenio, 33, So. Lower Sampaguita, Brgy. Banilad, Mandaue City. The victim was washing her clothes in front of her house when she was shot dead.

Nov. 1, 2018. Victoria Po Lua, 62, co-owner of a mineral water company, shipping company, and hotel, Brgy. Tabunok, Talisay City. The victim’s body was found on November 3 inside a refrigerator in an abandoned bodega in the compound of the family’s ancestral home. The victim who lived alone in the ancestral home, had been robbed and murdered. Three suspects were arrested.

November 1. Jonel Cabaluna, 42, and Eniego Sibugal, Jr. were stabbed to death at Daanlungsod, Toledo City. The suspects were arrested.

Nov. 1, 2018 – 5:30PM. Edelaido Aldaya, 60, Carcar City. The victim was shot dead by Johnrich Alcuizar at P. Nellas Street, Brgy. Poblacion 3, Carcar City.

Nov. 2, 2018. Begie Buhanghang, 35, Brgy. Cabancalan, Mandaue City. The victim was sitting in the roadside at So. Soong 1, Brgy. Mactan, Lapu Lapu City, waiting for a taxi to take him whom when he was shot dead by riding in tandem. The police said that the victim had a pending drug case in Cebu City.

Nov. 2, 2018 – past 6PM. Romulo Nodalo Barrientos, 53, fisherman, Brgy. Himensulan, San Francisco, Camotes. The victim was shot dead while walking home.

Nov. 2, 2018. Joseph Umandac. The local media only reported that the victim was shot dead around 8PM. There were no details about the victim, where he was killed, or what the motive could have been.

Nov. 3, 2018 – 4:15PM. Alexander Peras, 51, security guard. The victim was shot dead by Jimmy Taguba, 47, a fellow security guard who said it was self-defense. Both men were on duty and had been drinking. The police filed homicide charges against Taguba.

Nov. 4, 2018 – 10PM. Jonas Taping, 32, gasoline station attendant, Brgy. Tunghaan, Minglanilla. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at the gasoline station in So. Lipata, Brgy. Linao, Minglanilla, where he worked. According to the police the victim used to take drugs.

Nov. 6, 2018 – 7PM. Sirico Gabiana Sadora, 58, habalhabal driver. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Sabellano Street, Sitio Lantawan, Barangay Quiot, Cebu City. The police said that a love triangle or land dispute could the motive.

Nov. 7, 2018 – 3AM. Victorio Molina, a 57-year old taxi driver from Logarta, Cebu City, was shot to death by one of his two passengers at Naya Village, Brgy. Tisa, Cebu City. Eric Cabigas, a suspect, was arrested a few days later and charged with homicide.

Nov. 7, 2018 – noon. Charlie Dumadapat, 33, Sector 2, Brgy. Pagsabungan, Mandaue City. The victim was shot in the head by riding in tandem in front of a mall in Brgy. Basak, Mandaue City. The police said that the victim was headed for the court in connection with a drug case.

Nov. 14, 2018 – 10:50AM. PO2 Lord Romyth Cañada, 38, So. Bacay, Brgy. Tulay, Minglanilla, was having his car fixed at So. Lower, Brgy. Calajoan, Minglanilla, when he was shot dead. The killer was inside a car, opened the window and shot Cañada. The victim was allegedly linked to drugs.

November 17, 2018 – 1:30AM. Cristina Jayson, 25, call center agent, Joseville, Brgy. Bacayan, Cebu City. The victim was robbed and shot dead a few meters away from her house.

November 17 – early dawn. Ryan Alegado, 38, Carcar City, survived being shot to the head at the bus terminal in Brgy. Sambag I, Cebu City.

November 18, 2018 – 3AM. Junjun Canopin Laroa, 25, bar bouncer, Talisay City. The victim was shot dead in front of the bar where he was working in Brgy. Bakilid, Mandaue City

Nov. 25 (Sunday), 2018 – dawn. Jessie Castañares, Jail Guard 1 of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center was gunned down in Happy Valley, Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City. The victim was said to be involved in illegal activities both inside and outside of the CPDRC.

Nov. 25, 2018 – shortly after 6PM. Ret. SPO1 Edgar Causon, 54, and Ret. SPO4 Ferdinand “Dindo” Navales, 54. The two were just leaving a mall in Brgy. Bulacao, Talisay City, when they were shot dead.

Nov. 28, 2018 – 3:40AM. Jhonrey Candado, 26, reported to be a “street dweller,” was in critical condition after having been shot in the head at Leon Kilat Street in front of the Barangay Pahina Central Hall, Cebu City.

November 28, 2018 – 10PM. Carlos “Bading” Reyes, 41, bet collector (“masyador”) at a cockpit, Brgy. Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City. The victim was shot in the head inside the D&C Coliseum cockpit at Brgy. Ibabao-Estancia. According to the police the victim was a drug surrenderer (2016) and a suspected pusher.

November 28, 2018 – 4AM. Kent William Mendoza Isok, 25, Hermag Village, Brgy. Basak, Mandaue City, was shot dead by riding in tandem at the corner of JP Rizal and P. Suico Streets, Brgy. Tabok, Mandaue City. He was involved in drugs, the police said.

November 29. Gaspar Armodia, 28, So. Balangka-Puna, Brgy. Sambag I, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead by his neighbor after a quarrel.

November 30. Danilo Nacua Caño, Brgy. Vito, Minglanilla. The victim was found shot dead on December 1 early morning at So. Manipis, Brgy. Campo 4, Talisay City. His hands were tied at the back and his face covered with a tshirt. The police said that the victim had been a police informant or asset.

Nov. 30, 2018. Jimmy Palapar or Sandoval, 35, So. Bohol Village, Brgy. Duljo Fatima, Cebu City. The victim was shot dead at C. Padilla, Duljo Fatima. He sustained a shot wound at the back of his house. The victim had been arrested for drugs in 2017.

December 3, 2018 (Monday). Jocelyn Caberte Amarila, 52, Brgy. Banhigan, Dalaguete. The victim was struck with a piece of wood and thrown into the sea by Junrey Gesalan, her neighbor. He surrendered to the police.

December 3, 2018. Servando Ramos, 57, and Ana Maria Grace Ramos, 47, Brgy. Langkas, Dalaguete. Antonio Jabagat, 48, and his nephew Alejandro, 25, wanted to borrow money from the Ramos couple but ended up stabbing both husband and wife to death. They were arrested in Bohol a few days later.

December 4 – 9:30PM. Eleazar Estrera Garciano, 54, Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City, was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Alang-Alang, Mandaue City. The victim had just come from the D&C Coliseum. He was said to be a friend of Carlos “Bading” Reyes who was shot dead at said cockpit on November 28.

November 5 – 3PM. Romeo Mejias, habalhabal driver, Sto. Rosario, Brgy. Jagobiao, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Jagobiao Highway corner Eversley Road, Brgy. Jagobiao.

December 5. Abner Barutag, 27, and an unidentified male person were shot dead by a certain Jephrel Omandac, 21, at Brgy. Poblacion 3, Carcar City. They reportedly had a conflict.

December 5 – 11PM. Michael Bañez, 38, habalhabal driver, was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Lawaan I, Talisay City.

December 6. Premitivo Carbajal Gemo, Donde Carbajal and Raprap Navares were shot by two unidentified men at the house of Gemo in Brgy. Ocaña, Carcar City. Gemo and Carbajal died on the spot while Navares was declared dead on arrival. Sherwin Carbajal was wounded.

December 6 – 7 AM. Renato Laborde, 23, habalhabal driver, So. Lawis, Brgy. Pasil, Cebu City. The victim’s body was found dumped at Purok 7, Brgy. Bunga, Toledo City.

December 7 – past 4AM. Lemuel Guardiana, 29, Upper, Brgy. Tabok, Mandaue City. The victim was playing online games when two armed men entered his house and shot him dead. The victim was reportedly a drug surrenderer.

December 15, 2018 – 6:40AM. Chad Christian Arbarquez Noval, 36, Brgy. Alang-Alang, Mandaue City. The victim was sitting at a sidewalk vendor’s stall in Brgy. Tipolo, Mandaue City, when a man arrived on a scooter, walked over, and the shot the victim four times. Noval was a drug surrenderer according to the police.

December 16 (Sunday) – 8:30PM. Leticia Dosdos, 52, a businesswoman, Forest Hills, Banawa, Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City. The victim had come from Sunday mass and was waiting for the gate to be opened when she was shot by a man who had been waiting nearby for her to arrive.

December 18 – evening. Freddy Canoy, 47, habalhabal driver and carpenter, Dungo-an, Brgy. Basak, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem. The Mandaue City police said that the victim was a member of the “Almadin drug group” but the family denied this.

December 19 – around 10AM. Police Senior Inspector Porferio Gabuya, Jr. was shot dead by a motorcycle riding assassin using high powered firearm near Guihulngan City Police Station, Negros Oriental. The victim, deputy chief of police, had been assigned in Guihulngan City – from Cebu – for less than two months. The Police Regional Office – 7 (PRO-7) chief Debold Sinas immediately announced that P/SInsp. had been assassinated by the New People’s Army. This was denied by the NPA. Gabuya had reportedly been close to Jessielou “Jingjing” Cadungog (see July 30 above) and SPO1 Adonis Dumpit . Dumpit was shot dead in an alleged shootout with NBI and police in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Tagbilaran City on June 27, 2018.

December 24, 2018 – 4AM. PO2 Romeo Jumalon, So. Sentro, Brgy. Pit-os, Cebu City, was shot dead outside his house as he and his wife were preparing to leave for dawn mass. The assailants came by car. The victim was reportedly engaged in lending money to casino gamblers. He had also reportedly been dismissed from service in 2014 but reinstated.

December 29 – 11:25AM. Meljon Bolongon, 25, employee of a food stall, Brgy. Alang-Alang, Mandaue City. The victim was shot dead by riding in tandem at Brgy. Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City.

December 31, 2018 – afternoon. Alfredo Anticristo, 48, an STL bet taker, Badian, was shot and wounded by two unidentified men near his house in Badian.

December 31, 2018. Engelbert Villanueva was riding his motorcycle along the highway in Brgy. Tapun, Dalaguete, when he was shot dead by riding in tandem.
